The Big Bang Theory’s Wil Wheaton dug out his Star Trek uniform for a 1980s party and it’s everything you could possibly hope for and more.

The 47-year-old starred as Wesley Crusher in the Sir Patrick Stewart lead Star Trek series The Next Generation and 2002 movie Star Trek: Nemesis years after finding fame in the 1986 classic Stand By Me and almost a decade before he played himself in the meta role of Wil Wheaton in Big Bang.

In turn, Trekkies from across the galaxy have been lapping up the fancy dress costume for his wife’s 50th birthday party, paying homage to Commander Riker from The Next Generation season three.

‘Last night, we had a 50th birthday party for @annewheaton. She requested an 80s costume party, so I went as Commander Riker from season three of TNG,’ he wrote against the iconic snap and fans went wild.

‘This is amazing. And Bearded Riker was the Superior Riker,’ enthused one of Wil’s 890,000 Instagram followers.

And they weren’t alone. In fact this fan went one step further to add: ‘Both of my early childhood celebrity crushes combined in one. Does not compute. Recalculating.’

Others were calling for Wil to join the upcoming Star Trek: Picard series, which will be released on Amazon Prime later this year and feature several Next Generation cameos.

Sadly, Metro.co.uk recently caught up with Wil and the actor insisted it’s doubtful he’ll be popping up in Picard anytime soon.

‘It’s been over 30 years since we did Next Generation and in a way I feel like we had our time when we did our thing and it’s time to make room for new people, new characters and new stories,’ he told us.

‘All of that being said, I would love the opportunity to work with them again. It would be like going home.

‘I think that it could be a lot of fun to revisit that character, but I just don’t see that happening.’

And just FYI, Wil’s Instagram is full of nostalgic nuggets with the comeback king sharing a photo with his Stand By Me co-star Jerry O’Connell yesterday.

Greta Gerwig is the record-breaking director who became the first woman to be nominated for an Oscar for her directorial debut, Ladybird.

Award-winning actress Saoirse Ronan played the lead in that popular coming-of-age tale and is now working with Gerwig again on her latest film, a remake of the 1949 classic, Little Women.

Gerwig’s Little Women remake, which stars Little Drummer Girl actress Florence Pugh, Eliza Scanlen and British actress Emma Watson alongside Ronan as the March sisters, will be released in December 2019. And if the new Little Women trailer is anything to go by, it’s going to be a moving, funny and touching tribute to Louisa May Alcott’s progressive masterpiece from 1868.

Where is Greta Gerwig from and who are her parents?

Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Gerwig moved to New York to study English and Philosophy at Barnard College before becoming an actress.

Although her passion was play-writing, after being cast in a number of films, she admitted in an interview in 2013 that she felt like ‘acting was happening’ for her, so she pursued it, even though she admitted she felt ‘miserable’.

Gerwig is very close to her parents – Christine, an OB-GYN nurse, and Gordon, who worked for a credit union – and even managed to bag them the role of her on-screen parents in her 2012 movie Frances Ha.

Is Greta Gerwig married?

In 2010, Gerwig starred in Greenberg alongside actor Ben Stiller. The film was directed by Noah Baumbach, who Gerwig is said to have begun dating once the film had been released.

While the alleged beginning of their romance was almost a decade ago, the notoriously private pair only confirmed their partnership at the 2019 Oscars and Golden Globes when they walked the red carpet hand in hand.

Gerwig, 36, and Baumbach, 49, are not married, but have collaborated on many films together over the course of their relationship such as Greenberg, Mistress America and Frances Ha.

The couple now live in Brooklyn together and in March 2019, it was announced that Gerwig and Baumbach had welcomed a son.

Greta Gerwig movies

While Gerwig has starred in many movies, including a 2012 Woody Allen film called To Rome With Love, critical acclaim and record-breaking success came Gerwig’s way when she wrote and made her solo directorial debut Lady Bird.

The comedy-drama film won the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Gerwig also received Academy Award nominations for Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

In June 2018, it was announced that Gerwig would direct a remake of Little Women, the story of four sisters who come of age in the aftermath of the Civil War in America. The film is scheduled to be released on Christmas Day in the US and on December 27 in the UK.

What is Greta Gerwig working on now?

For her next project, Gerwig is said to be collaborating with her partner Baumbach once again, this time to co-write and potentially direct a live-action Barbie film. The project, which is just rumoured at this stage, will be based on the iconic Mattel doll and if the murmurs are true, may even star Margot Robbie.

Borderlands 3 - playing with friends is always more fun
Borderlands 3 – playing with friends is always more fun

GameCentral gets to play several hours of co-op on one of Borderlands 3’s new planets and talks to creative director Paul Sage.

Borderlands 3 was obviously always going to be a hit, but we don’t think even developer Gearbox realised there’d be quite this level of rabid anticipation for the long-awaited sequel. It was the biggest game by far at E3, with fans queuing up for hours to play just a 20-minute single-player demo. To be honest, we found that a little underwhelming, even without the wait, but last week we got to play more than four hours on two separate sections of the game and got a much clearer picture of what it’s all about.

We started off right at the beginning of the game, skipping only the intro, and playing in single-payer as robotic vault hunter FL4K. We weren’t clear on his backstory but all his skills revolve around one of three different pets that you can swap in and out. One’s a giant spider-thing, one’s more dog-like, and the other is basically a monkey with a gun.

The three separate skill trees work similarly to the previous games but now everyone has three special abilities instead of just one, which again you can switch between at any time. FL4K’s are all related to his pets (and yes, you can stroke them) and we found the one that teleported the dog, called Mr Chew, to a specific location and powered him up to be especially helpful.

As was obvious from the first annoucement Borderlands 3 isn’t any kind of radical change from the first two games and both looks and plays very similarly to the newly remastered versions of the originals. But whereas the first game was a risk that no-one thought would be a major hit it’s obvious developer Gearbox are now much more confident that the mix of first person shooting, a constant supply of loot, and an anarchic sense of humour has a very substantial audience.

There are notable improvements though and beyond the expanded skills the gunplay is a lot more enjoyable than the previous games. It’s still not up to Destiny standards but it’s certainly now in the upper echelons of first person shooters. As we mentioned to creative director Paul Sage in our interview we also really liked the melee combat (more so with FL4K than Amara, who we played as later), which feels very satisfying and more than just a last ditch alternative.

It’s not just that using the guns is more fun than it used to be but that they’re more intrinsically interesting. The original games made their name by offering a gazillion different weapons but they were all just minor variations on the standard archetypes of first person shooters. There’s also a lot of pistols, shotguns, and assault rifles in Borderlands 3 but the rarer ones all seem much more unique.

We had one that shot out pink and blue lasers like the laser from R-Type, another that looked like a discus and shot out heat-seeking bullets, a freeze gun, one where you have to power it up for a second to shoot fireballs, and another that can be thrown and used as a turret – like the laptop gun out of Perfect Dark. Even though they are all still randomised they give the impression of all being hand-crafted and that’s an impressive trick.

Borderlands 3 - FL4K can also fire bats out of his hands
Borderlands 3 – FL4K can also fire bats out of his hands

The second part of the demo was played in two-player co-op, with the other jurno playing as Moze, whose skills revolve around a mech suit that the other players can jump on the back of to use its turret. We opted for Amara the Siren, who to be honest was a little disappointing after the pleasures of FL4K. Even though we were playing at level 22, and so could unlock a lot of extra skills, none of her abilities seemed all that interesting and that move with all the magic glowing arms never really feels like it’s doing all that much damage, and neither does the area of effect one.

The single-player demo was on Pandora, from the original games, and we had a lot of fun on our own picking up side missions and driving around in the various vehicles – which control very much like the Warthogs out of Halo. But the co-op demo was on the swamp planet of Eden-6 and even though it’s filled with dinosaurs it still didn’t seem as much fun.

Maybe it was because one of the main story missions involved traipsing through the boring sci-fi corridors of a crashed spaceship but even with another player in tow the action did all start to seem a bit one-note towards the end of our session. The story involved two bickering AIs, one of which is voiced by Ice-T and stuck in the body of a cuddly toy, but after a while you begin to realise that, regardless of accent, almost everyone in Borderlands 3 talks like a Californian teenager and that can get pretty obnoxious.

Now that Gearbox know how successful the games are the nervous energy of the originals seems to be giving way to a smug self-satisfaction, at least in terms of the dialogue. It wasn’t enough to detract too much from the overall experience, but it is going to be interesting to see if Eden-6 and the other new locations prove as popular as Pandora.

We’re sure they probably will, especially as we only saw a very small proportion of the whole game and developers do have a strange habit of picking less interesting missions for previews. Even with those qualms we definitely enjoyed the game overall and were particularly impressed by the guns and the combat. And as long as you can experience that with your friends that’s what’s Borderlands is all about.

GC: As a cynical journalist I feel like I should be complaining that this looks and plays too similarly to the previous games. But actually it was a lot of fun, you’ve clearly got a formula in place and you know what fans are going to be expecting in terms of this sequel. Although I doubt that makes your job easier, probably just more daunting?

PS: Just speaking for me, I was excited. There is a challenge to making something new in a series that people love, because you know what their expectations are. Player expectations are something that are just this incredible… either challenge or weight depending on how you view it. So the things that excites me are creating four new vault hunters from player fantasies that we’ve never hit before. So FL4K… who you got to play today, right?

GC: Yeah.

PS: One of the original ideas was, ‘How do we get people who like to nurture, who want pets around, interested in Borderlands? How do we bring that fantasy to life for them?’ And so the pets, they do things like they stick around all the time, whereas when we had them before with Gaige, she would summon Deathtrap and then he’d be gone but FL4K has the pets out all the time.

GC: At first I thought you couldn’t pet them, but then I realised you can and I have to admit I would’ve been upset if that wasn’t an option.

PS: Right! And that was all key to that player fantasy we wanted to bring to the game. Our art director, Scott Kester, said, ‘What if FL4K is a robot?’ And he had this concept and we’re like, ‘Yes!’ Because there’s a certain mentality there where FL4K doesn’t really trust humans but trusts the pets that he has. So that was key to us in developing that. And that’s kind of how we approached other characters like Moze, a soldier character. We’ve had Axton and we’ve had Roland before and they had turrets, but what’s better than having a turret? Well, what about a turret that you can use? What if you could drive the turret? Even better, right?

So there’s an excitement in that, that the team has to bring, and also that freedom that comes along with it. We know that we have to create missions and characters that defy expectations for people.

GC: I was fascinated by the fact that you’ve had five million sales across the franchise in just the last quarter, even though it’s been seven years since the last mainline sequel. That’s extraordinary, I’ve never heard of anything like that. How do you explain that?

PS: I’m gonna to use a word and you’re free to shake your head at me and say, ‘Nah’. But I would use the word fun…

GC: Why would I say that?! What’s wrong with the word fun?

PS: [laughs] Because I think it’s such a cop out to use that word.

GC: Pfft! If only more games were more worried about being fun!

PS: [laughs] Maybe, but it’s the ability for us to relax with you, as game developers. We poke fun at ourselves, our characters will do outlandish things. There’s – I hate to use the word joke – but there’s real humour in our games. We have a mission where a guy gets trapped in a toilet based off of an AI that keeps them trapped there, right? So the toilet has an AI and it keeps them trapped there for violating certain codes. That’s dumb. [laughs] But at the same time, that kind of fun allows somebody to relax.

And when you go home to play games, a lot of times, a lot of people like to be challenged. So if you can combine the challenge and yet still relax people where they feel comfortable, that’s a key element to people wanting to come back to your game and feel great about it. And I think that’s something Borderlands does well.

GC: With the long gap since the last one many expected you to be taking more than a few leaves out of Destiny’s book with Borderlands 3, but that doesn’t seem to have happened at all. But that idea must’ve been raised at some point, why did you decide against it?

PS: Okay. So that was raised in meetings, that’s very astute. [laughs] So I have a background working in MMOs and one of the things that I noticed that… I don’t know if you played World Of Warcraft but for a long time they had people go to dungeons and there’s this physical space to traverse to get there, right? But then they added this thing called a Dungeon Finder, right? Which is a menu that just allows you to teleport directly to it. And players really liked that, because it cut out a lot of the time wasting. And the beauty of even what Borderlands 2 did is it allowed people to get to the fun quicker.

That kind of mentality really stuck with us, of how can I just let people drop in? You heard me talk about level syncing this morning, where you want people to be able to group up regardless of their level. But just the ability to get to the fun as quickly as possible is what a game should be presenting to you. So that’s kind of how we built our strategy. And that is a very determined strategy versus, say, having a hub or something where you can’t really talk to anybody. You can’t meet anybody.

But if you can get into games very quickly through menus and things like that, you get to the fun so much faster. So that’s where we are, we want to pair people naturally but not force them into it. And also really important: offline mode. What if you’re not hooked up to the Internet, should you still be able to play the game? Yeah, of course.

GC: But what about all the various tricks Destiny and other games use to keep people coming back daily and weekly? Things like strikes and time-limited events? Do you not have the equivalent of them?

PS: So, in a couple of weeks we’ll talk more about our veteran game, right? Like, what it is that you do pass that.

GC: You didn’t need any of that with Borderlands 2 though and, as we see, people are still playing it without any of that sort of Destiny style incentivisation.

PS: Right, but for us what we’ve been doing is we’ve been watching what we think brings those people back. What things in the game are they doing that compelled them to want to come back and play? And can we build our strategy around what they did. That’s versus… of course we look at other games, we look at those things, but what is it that players are doing? And a lot of it has to do with, wanting better loot and wanting to keep going with their character. So they’re attached to the characters, they’re getting better loot. And so our strategy that we’re going to talk about… hopefully if we talk again, you can ask me and you’ll be like, ‘Oh, I see what you’re saying!’

GC: Is what you’re planning fundamentally different to these other games?

PS: I think there is some difference. I think when you see the strategy, you’ll understand. We want people to be able to play the content that they like.

GC: Without knowing what you’re talking about I’m tempted to say that the secret is just a big chunk of free story-based DLC. Which is a very old school kind of approach.

PS: [laughs] It does work! But also people are smart and they want value for their money, right now. I will say to you outright, we will absolutely have that same DLC strategy because people want to have content that they can go back to, but there’s so much more that we’re going to add to that as well.

But yeah, I love DLC… if I want to opt into it. So it’s very important to make sure that we pay close attention to the value of it. And our DLCs do tend to be large and they tend to have a lot of content in them. And I think that’s a strategy that works because people say, ‘Yeah, that’s valuable to me’. Or they can look at it and say, ‘You know what? I’m not sure I’m interested in that. I’ll wait for a while if I need to on that.’ And I think that’s a good thing.

GC: Just getting into the mechanics for a bit, what I was worried about going in, is whether the guns would feel unique enough to be worth all the variation. I think of older games like Turok 2 or Perfect Dark that had all these weird and unique weapons and that seems very difficult to replicate in a game where you’re also randomising all the components.

PS: Challenge accepted! [laughs]

GC: I did pick up a number of good ones, I will admit, but I’m still curious about how different they can be.

PS: So you were asking earlier about influences from other game. You named Turok 2 but there was an Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath game that I liked, that had different types of weapons, there was Ratchet & Clank – I just think those guys are brilliant about how they do it and there’s inspiration there. You probably heard me mention this morning that manufacturer identities help to describe gameplay differences and not just stat differences, like the shields and things like that. And so we looked at what could we do more with that. And I remember early on we talked about Torgue weapons. And Torgue weapons were cool because they sent out little micro-missiles.

So they felt different in Borderlands 2 but we thought, ‘Well, what if those attached to you and then you could detonate them later on?’ And that was something where the team wasn’t even really sure that was a good idea. But we started playing with it and it’s like, ‘Oh no, that feels really good’. Because one of our weapons designers said, ‘Well, what if they can attach to the ground and you can still blow them up?’ So you can lay them as a trap or you wait till a guy wanders back in. And it became an emergent gameplay element that was really fun.

So the more we tended to embrace the emergent gameplay from the guns I think the broader the spectrum got. Now the reason that’s so critical for this game in particular is that I want people to finish the game, right? That’s always a difficult trick. People will very often turn out of a lot of games and I’d love people to finish it, but if they don’t feel like there’s a surprise coming in that, if the pacing isn’t good enough, they probably won’t.

GC: Just how randomised are the rare ones? I picked up a lot of suspiciously good ones from some of the mini-bosses.

PS: [laughs] They’re randomised, but I will tell you exactly how that works. There’s a part system, so each gun has a stock, a barrel, and so on. So those are the different parts and each of those parts have stats. But we reserve certain parts, with certain functionality, for certain rarity levels, right? So we have the whites, the greens, the blues, and the purples. You only see certain guns as you get to the higher rarity levels. And we increase the frequency with which you see the rarity levels – the upper echelon rarity levels – as you level up. So that’s part of it.

GC: One looked like the laser from R-Type, I really liked that one. And with the colours and everything it was obvious it was a purposeful homage.

PS: That’s actually pretty cool that you found that, I didn’t realise you’d find that. I think that’s an E-tech, Cool.

GC: One minor point, but I was surprised that I was running out of ammo quite a lot in the game. Is that purposeful or was I just being rubbish?

PS: Well, I didn’t watch you play [laughs] but I would guess not. But what I can tell you is there is an effort sometimes to have you try out the different weapon types, like whether it’s a shotgun or a pistol or something. So the ammo… there is a little bit of a limit at first. It’s one of those pacing things and then as you get to Sanctuary you’ll start getting those SDUs, which are the storage deck upgrades, and those give you more capacity to carry more ammo. And as you gain those, that becomes a reason to spend your cash in the game and work with the economy.

So all of those things are built in at first, so you feel a little bit of pressure but not too much. And also it’s an encouragement to explore because we put ammo all over, crates and things like that. And we do have cheat mechanisms where we will drop a little extra ammo if you’re low on a specific type.

GC: Changing the odds behind the scenes, that’s very in with publishers at the moment.

PS: [laughs]

GC: But because I kept running out of ammo I used more melee combat than I expected and that was actually a lot of fun.

PS: Well, thank you. Because on our end that, that’s very intentional. We’re always asking are you doing too much melee damage? Is it not enough? How, how does that feel? And as you play more, maybe you and I could come back and talk about how there are other synergistic elements between action skills and your other abilities. We want to make Borderlands different from other games, not just in the weapons but in all the systems.

GC: That’s good to hear because, like when we were talking about the guns, I hate to see everything just be the same, or feel it has to restrict itself because of some silly notion of realism. But it seems like one of the reasons you’re doing this is to purposefully avoid those restraints.

PS: It is, it definitely is. It’s a passion to be able to break the boundaries, so to speak. I do love working on Borderlands. I love the, the freedom that it has, to kind of expand the… [exasperated sigh as he realises he’s not allowed to talk about something he wants to – GC] we haven’t talked about artefacts yet and the reason I gave you a sigh there is artefacts do things to your melee or to your slides that are a lot of fun.

So I’m going to give you an example, rather than just hinting at it, but I had an artefact in one of my playthroughs recently that shot out buzzsaws. So every time I would slide, buzzsaws would go out in front of me.

GC: I won’t ask where they came from.

PS: Don’t! [laughs] But that freedom is fun and it makes it a lot of fun to develop for.

GC: Remind what Gearbox has said so far about microtransactions.

PS: What we will have is the DLC I mentioned before. And that’s all I can tell you right now. I would say that we’re committed mostly to, err… not…

GC: Being evil?

PS: [laughs] Yes, definitely that! But I can tell you as a player, I hate when you have a pay-to-win scenario. I think most players hate that stuff and we’re very cognisant of that. So I can guarantee you there would be nothing that we’d introduce that would ever be that way.

GC: I don’t ask that as a gotcha moment but because the industry is so split on the subject at the moment. Did you see that Rocket League has removed loot boxes completely?

PS: Oh, no I didn’t. That’s interesting.

GC: So you have some companies trying to do the right thing and then others sneaking in microtransactions after launch so they don’t get mentioned in reviews or by ratings boards.

PS: [laughs]

GC: But it makes money. If I was some soulless marketing guy I’d be egging you on to do it.

PS: You know, you’re always gonna face that pressure. But look at me, I’m a developer, right? My job is to make a game as fun as I can make them. People will come back if they feel like they got good value.

GC: I do wonder whether someone has worked out that if you’re fair and honest with players you can make the same, or almost the same, amount of money as if you’re not, and that’s why we’re seeing these different approaches.

PS: I’m in it for the long haul. I want to make sure that people feel like they have great value for their money and I’m far more interested, as a developer, in developing content than I am in developing monetisation methods. So definitely expect DLC and definitely expect free things coming in as part of our long-term plan.

GC: Have you ever considered having a dedicated competitive mode to the game, especially now the gunplay has been improved?

PS: Sure. There is duelling in the game and duelling can be fun, but the heart of the game is co-op. We want you to feel powerful and have all these amazing abilities but translating that into competitive can be really hard to do.

GC: That’s probably the reason why guns have got so boring, because they have to be balanced for competitive.

PS: Yeah, yeah, exactly. But our freedom enables us to make sure that it’s a great, great co-operative experience. I think there’s a lot of great competitive games out there, I really do, but being great cooperatively is actually something that’s not out there as much. And I’d like to see more of that. So if we ever had that influence in the industry, of people saying, ‘Yeah, man, cooperative games are the way to go’, I’d love to see that.

GC: Do you have any thoughts as to how long this game will last, because one thing I’m not clear on is whether the large gap between two and three was intentional or not.

PS: It wasn’t intentional. [laughs] But everything is probably intentional at some level. Right?

GC: Well, I’m sure it was part of God’s plan, but did you mean to do it?

PS: [laughs] Whether we meant it to be seven years… the team are a bunch of creative people. So they want to work on new projects like Battleborn and other things like that. But it was the right time for us to get there. We moved to the Unreal Engine 4 three years ago. Changing an engine, if you know anything about the industry that’s actually a challenge to get there. And so that was something that was just going to take that amount of time.

But our character design really benefited from Battleborn because we had so many characters in Battleborn that you could see the experience the team gained of, ‘How can we improve that?’ And so there was benefit to that, for sure.

GC: Okay. Well that’s great, thanks a lot for your time.

PS: Hey, thank you so much. It’s a pleasure meeting you.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth split earlier this week, just months after getting married in a secret wedding.

Soon after their break-up was confirmed, the We Can’t Stop singer made headlines as she was pictured kissing Kaitlynn Carter during a getaway to Lake Como.

However, an insider has now claimed that, despite the 26-year-old having a wild reputation, it was actually the Hunger Games actor’s ‘partying’ that is to blame for their relationship breaking down.

‘Everyone always thinks Miley is problematic and immature and a hardcore partier while he’s this chill surfer dude, but that’s actually [not accurate],’ a friend of the couple claimed.

‘Liam parties with his friends, and Miley thinks he should’ve grown out of that by now.’

They also hinted the 29-year-old can get ‘moody’ in private, something that the Hannah Montana actress has found ‘tough’.

Insiders claimed Miley was fed up with Liam’s partying (Picture: WireImage)

‘She’s been supportive of him when things get dark, but it’s tough,’ another source told People. ‘That’s something that has weighed on Miley and their relationship. He can also lash out at her, and he hates the attention their ups and downs bring.’

Discussing those kissing pictures of Miley and Kaitlynn, they added that, while she’s ‘trying to push Liam’s buttons’, she’s ‘hurt’ by how things have fallen apart between the pair, and is ‘putting on a good face’ to cover that up.

However, another insider has hinted there is a lot more to their split than meets the eye, telling Page Six the Neighbours actor was in fact the one who wanted to settle things down.

‘Was their relationship paradise? Of course not,’ a pal reportedly told the publication. ‘But a lot of what’s being reported is bulls***.

They also claimed the singer is ‘acting like the “old Miley” again,’ while her former beau ‘wants a normal, settled-down life.’

Miley and Liam have been in an on-off relationship for nearly a decade, meeting on the set of their 2009 film, The Last Song.

They surprised fans by getting married back in December, sharing glimpses of their intimate wedding day on Instagram.

But it wasn’t to last, and Miley’s reps confirmed their split in a statement.

‘Liam and Miley have agreed to separate at this time,’ it read. ‘Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what’s best while they both focus on themselves and careers.

‘They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy.’

Chris Hemsworth’s brother broke his silence for the first time concerning their marriage, taking to Instagram to share an artistic sunset snap.

‘Hi all,’ he began. ‘Just a quick note to say that Miley and I have recently separated and I wish her nothing but health and happiness going forward.

‘This is a private matter and I have not made, nor will I be making, any comments to any journalists or media outlets. Any reported quotes attributed to me are false. Peace and Love.’

While Miley shared a snap of herself in the studio, hinting new music was on the way.

Metro.co.uk has contacted reps for Miley and Liam for a comment.

Here is everything that you need to know about the previous Little Women films and when they were released.

What Little Women movie adaptations have there been?

The next Little Women movie wasn’t produced until 1933, directed by George Cukor and starring Katharine Hepburn, who went on to appear in Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner and The Lion in Winter.

In 1949 the fourth version of the story was released by Merbyn LeRoy, which had June Allison in one of the leading roles.

**WARNING: Major spoilers for The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 episode 13 below**

The Handmaid’s Tale season three finale aired last night on Hulu in the US and viewers have been sobbing over some of the heartbreaking final scenes.

While the series is a few weeks behind on this side of the pond on Channel 4, American viewers have been sharing their reactions on Twitter and Reddit to express all the feels.

In a nail-biting hour of television, June (played by Elisabeth Moss) managed to get a staggering 52 children out of Gilead by plane in an ambitious mission which saw handmaids and marthas team up.

Sadly, June’s daughter Hannah (Jordana Blake) wasn’t one of them, having been moved elsewhere, wasn’t one of them and viewers were crushed when her dad Luke (OT Fagbenle) was searching the crowd for his daughter.

Viewers’ hearts were collectively broken when Luke realised Hannah wasn’t one of the children who escaped.

Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: ‘Luke looking for Hannah to come out of the plane got me too good. goodnight #HandmaidsTale.’

While another added: ‘Knowing Hannah isn’t on the plane but having to watch Luke search for her as all the kids exit the plane, has to be one of the most heartbreaking things to watch in this show so far. #HandmaidsTale.’

Another fan tweeted: ‘The look of hope on Luke’s face, when Rebecca reunited with her dad, took me out. I’m in here crying #HandmaidsTaleFinale #handmaidstale @HandmaidsOnHulu.’

One other comment reads: ‘But can we please get June and Hannah out of Gilead. Idk if my heart can take anymore of them toying around with Luke’s feelings #HandmaidsTale.’

There better be a June/Luke/Hannah reunion in season four or we riot.

The Handmaid’s Tale season 3 continues on Channel 4 on Sunday night.

13 Reasons Why season 3 trailer frames Clay Jensen as Bryce Walker’s killer – but is he?

The final trailer for 13 Reasons Why season 3 has landed – and Clay Jensen looks firmly in the firing line as the person who killed Bryce Walker.

Dropping major hints to what happened to the stubborn jock-turned-rapist’s death, the new clip from Netflix reveals who exactly could be the culprit.

Confirming that he was shot dead, some fingers turn immediately to Tyler, who at the end of last season was revealed to the school body to have a number of firearms in his possession.

Thankfully, Clay was able to stop him shooting up the school – but could Tyler have taken his murderous intent out on just the one person?

In the meantime, he’s still being attacked by Monty, who is clearly now desperate to hide the horrific sexual assault he forced upon Tyler at the end of the second season.

Monty appears to know more than he’s letting on to the police about Bryce’s death, warning Clay to ‘look a little closer to home’ if he wants to know the truth.

Throw in the fact that there’s a brawl breaking out in the locker rooms as the steroid using stars begin to get aggressive, and it could be any one of the team.

Clay Jensen, 13 reasons why season 3
Could Clay really have killed Bryce? (Picture: Netflix)

But it’s poor, unsuspecting Clay who is led away in handcuffs, despite his protests that he’s innocent of the crimes against him.

Thing is though…did he actually kill him?

We’re used to the lovelorn Clay fawning over Hannah Baker, and finally letting her go after hunting down the reason behind her suicide.

13 Reasons Why Jocks

Bryce was shot dead but who pulled the trigger? (Picture: Netflix)

But we see a new side of him in the trailer’s final seconds, where he bitterly declares the world is better without him in it.

He’s then asked: ‘What did you do?’ before the screen fades to black.

Talk about a lot to unwrap!

With just nine days to go until the series drops, fans have more than enough to get going on the clues that will lead them to the culprit in the trailer.

The team have already promised on Twitter that evidence is hidden in the two-minute long clip.

Time to get hunting, folks.

Quentin Tarantino banned phones on Once Upon A Time In Hollywood set as producer reveals old school process

$

Quentin Tarantino’s process on the Once Upon A Time In Hollywood set has been revealed as producers on the epic film celebrated its release.

The so-called ‘love letter to Hollywood’ is in cinemas today and stars the likes of Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt among about 32 other A-listers.

With such a stellar call-sheet you’d think no expense would be spared on this modern, contemporary re-telling.

No, sir.

Much like the 1969 set, producer David Heyman has told Metro.co.uk Tarantino works to a very old school drum – that means a severe lack of technology when he’s making his masterpieces.

‘Quentin doesn’t like visual effects, he’s very analogue, no mobile phones, when you show him things you show it on paper, you don’t show it on a computer,’ Harry Potter producer David told us on the red carpet of the film’s premiere in London recently.

David Heyman, Quentin Tarantino and Shannon McIntosh
David and Shannon (with Quentin) detailed the director’s process (Picture: Getty Images)

‘No mobile phones on set, which is great. So he doesn’t like visual effects, so there is very, very, very little in here, he wanted it to be real.’

David explained how they turned modern-day Hollywood Boulevard into a 60s wonder dream with Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth cruising down the strip.

‘Converting Los Angeles to 1969 was going to be a challenge as so little remains,’ Heyman explained.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt star in ONCE UPON TIME IN HOLLYWOOD.
They had to turn the streets into 2019 Hollywood (Picture: 2019 CTMG)

‘When Brad is driving up and down Hollywood Boulevard we converted a couple blocks on another side and we got to go one way.

‘A could months later we came back to do it the other way because it would have caused too much disruption to do much more than we did each time. So there were some epic transformations.’

The director is notoriously analogue when it comes to his writing processes as well, as Robbie, DiCaprio and Pitt recently explained.

The three were invited to Tarantino’s pile to read the script for the first time – with one copy all that was made to show his potential leading stars the film’s premise.

Producer Shannon McIntosh, who has worked on several films with the Pulp Fiction director, explained everything is kept under lock and key.

Gotta protect those Tarantino secrets, after all.

‘He has a guest house area, I chose water, sat in there and read the script,’ Shannon said of first seeing the story.

‘You take your time reading it because you don’t get to take it away with you, it’s kept under lock and key.

‘You relish and enjoy all of it. I didn’t have a VB [Victoria Bitter beer], which is what Margot had, I had an Icelandic water.’

We can picture it now – Tarantino sashaying out onto his back porch, frilly apron on, fresh lemonade in glasses with clinking ice as he serves his stars their next role.

Just remember to leave your phone in the car.

The Great British Bake Off will be returning to our screens very soon.

Channel 4 has announced the start date for the 2019 series, which will reunite judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with presenters Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig.

The new series will kick off on 27 August, bringing a fresh batch of contestants to the iconic tent.

Channel 4 announced the news on Twitter, saying: ‘There ain’t no part like a Mad Hatter’s tea party’. We’re dreaming of soggy bottoms already

The awesome foursome took part in an Alice in Wonderland themed photoshoot for the 2019 series, posing at the Mad Hatter’s tea party.

As ever contestants will be tasked with whipping up tasty challenges in a bid to win the coveted GBBO trophy.

With Bake Off just a couple of weeks away, that means the dark nights are gradually drawing in so we might as well start planning our Christmases now.

The hit show’s return couldn’t come at a better time for Paul, who has recently been hitting headlines after his difficult split from girlfriend Summer Monteys-Fullam.

At least now folk will be talking about his ‘Hollywood handshake’ instead…

Last year’s series was won by 31-year-old Rahul Mandal.

The Great British Bake Off starts 27 August at 8pm on Channel 4.

Bake Off fans have been anxiously waiting for the new series to arrive, and the good news is that there isn’t long left to wait.

Several new bakers will be stepping into the tent hoping to impress the judges and claim the weekly star baker prize and make it to the final.

An initial teaser was revealed last night showing the two hosts and judges in an Alice in Wonderland-inspired shoot.

Here is everything that you need to know about when you can expect the series 10 of The Great British Bake Off to get underway.

When does Bake Off 2019 start?

The new series of The Great British Bake Off will start at 20.00 on Tuesday 27 August on Channel 4.

Short teasers have been appearing on TV in recent weeks, but little else has been revealed about the 2019 series until now.

Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will return as the judges and they will be joined once again by presenter Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig.

Last year’s series saw Rahul Mandal walk away as the winner after beating Ruby Bhogal and Kim-Joy Hewlett in the final.

This year’s GBBO line-up hasn’t been confirmed yet, but the wait can’t be long with just a couple of weeks to go until the show gets underway.

The teaser picture accompanying the announcement shows Noel Fielding as the Mad Hatter, with Sandi standing beside him holding a teapot.

Paul and Prue look far more serious as they sit at the table, which is full of cake worthy of a showstopper display.

Linda Lusardi has been pictured looking stunning as she rocks the iconic sparkly bikini from her glamour model days 30 years on.

She’s fully defied the laws of ageing and we’re living for it.

The former glamour model found the iconic bikini when she was clearing out the attic and of course had to try it on.

With it still fitting like a glove, the 60-year-old struck the same pose as she did back in the day – and looked just as stunning as she did back then.

‘I can’t believe I’m wearing the same sparkly bikini I wore back in the day. I found it in my attic the other weekend while I was doing a big clear-out, and it still fits,’ she explained to Best magazine.

She added that the good genes run in the family, pointing out: ‘My mum, Lila, is 86 and still a size 8. And my dad, who I sadly lost a couple of years ago, was in incredible shape. I watch my weight, but I’m very lucky with my metabolism.’

This week, the star also celebrated her 21st wedding anniversary with her husband Sam Kane, sharing a sweet photo of the pair of them.

‘Happy 21st Anniversary to the man that changed my life,’ she said, with This Morning host Eamonn Holmes telling her: ‘Very pleased for you both. Love is …❤.’

Linda found fame as a glamour model back in the 1970s, before going on to have a career as an actress, appearing in The Bill, Brookside, Hollyoaks and Emmerdale.

A couple of years ago, it looked like her daughter Lucy Kane was set to follow in her footsteps, making it through to the battle rounds on The Voice in Tom Jones’ team.

However, she later revealed that she’d banned her mum from the initial audition.

‘I didn’t want my parents brought into it,’ the 20-year-old explained to the Daily Star.

‘I didn’t bring my mum and dad with me. I wanted it to be about me. I didn’t want to be only Linda Lusardi’s daughter if I didn’t get through.’

Netflix film Eerie terrifies as viewers forced to sleep with lights on

So there’s another horror film that is terrifying punters around the world, with Eerie recently landing on Netflix and forcing viewers to keep their lights on when they go to bed.

Times are getting drastic in the world of horror, people.

The Filipino Gothic film was released in March but only landed on the streaming platform recently.

Centring around a tale of a girls’ school the nuns aren’t the creepy thing about it…for once, as we suddenly discover a character named Erika, who basically haunts all from beyond the ether.

They then call her Eri and before we know it, the Eerie title makes a whole lot more sense.

Set in Lucia Academy for girls we see guidance counsellor Pat Consolacion (Bea Alonzo) attempt to uncover what went down behind the news of a student’s gruesome suicide. Old mate Erika.

Like how all the students are being traumatised by apparitions of ghost Erika and one is sent home after venturing alone at midnight to the spot where Erika supposedly killed herself.

Pat soon discovers there are more secrets than she can poke a stick at, kept in the shadows of the creepy institution.

From the ridiculously bone-chilling girlish giggle we hear at multiple points, to the jump scares and the classic horror violins, we can see why people are running terrified.

Then they add the rain. Nothing good happens when it rains in horror films (Picture: Netflix)

Cue jumps.

And night lights.

‘Just watched Eerie on Netflix and guess who’ll be sleeping with the lights on for a week?’ one wrote on Twitter.

Another joined them as they added: ‘Just watched Eerie on netflix and umm where’s my nightlight?? Scary af.’

The scares weren’t all they were cracked up to be for others, as one called the rest out for being soft.

‘What a load of cr*p if people need to sleep with the light on after this wow! No just no good film but “terrifying” it is not,’ one tough guy chimed in.

More punters were brave enough to bring snacks into the equation. All the better to hide behind, we think.

‘@netflix your new film eerie is not scary at all I watched 2 times with the lights off and snacks,’ one moviegoer wrote.

‘I thought it would be scary looking at the reviews but to me (the meant to be) scary bits was the same as all the other horrors. Turn up the notches of the horror films.’

Eerie is available on Netflix now.

Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth called time on their romance over the weekend, a decade after they first started dating.

And relationship expert Anna Williamson is desperate to get the Malibu singer, 26, and 29-year-old Hunger Games star in the Celebs Go Dating agency, so herself and Paul Carrick Brunson can get to the bottom of exactly what went down.

Side note: We would love to see this happen.

When asked if she could offer the former couple any pearls of wisdom, Anna told Metro.co.uk exclusively: ‘I don’t really know much about it.’

On the prospect of them appearing on the next series, she continued: ‘Oh, hell yeah!

‘I mean, who the hell wouldn’t want them in the agency?

‘I think our people need to speak to their people. We need to make this happen ASAP.’

Someone get Miley on the phone, stat!

The pair have been in an on-off relationship for nearly a decade, meeting on the set of their 2009 film, The Last Song.

However, after Liam broke his silence on Instagram, pals close to the couple claim his ‘partying’ was part of the reason their relationship fell apart.

‘Everyone always thinks Miley is problematic and immature and a hardcore partier while he’s this chill surfer dude, but that’s actually [not accurate],’ a ‘friend’ claimed.

‘Liam parties with his friends, and Miley thinks he should’ve grown out of that by now.’

‘She’s been supportive of him when things get dark, but it’s tough,’ another source told People. ‘That’s something that has weighed on Miley and their relationship. He can also lash out at her, and he hates the attention their ups and downs bring.’

After pictures emerged of Miley kissing Kaitlynn Carter – who recently split from Brody Jenner – the source added she is ‘hurt’ and ‘trying to push Liam’s buttons’.

However, another insider has hinted there is a lot more to their split than meets the eye, telling Page Six Chris Hemsworth’s brother was in fact the one who wanted to settle things down.

‘Was their relationship paradise? Of course not,’ a friend reportedly told the publication. ‘But a lot of what’s being reported is bulls***.

They also claimed the singer is ‘acting like the “old Miley” again,’ while her former beau ‘wants a normal, settled-down life.’

Maybe we do need Anna and Paul on the case….

Zoe Sugg has been having a whale of a time at a friend’s hen party, as she took to moulding a giant penis out of clay.

It can only be described as high art.

The YouTube star, who is known to go all out for special occasions after she enjoyed a nineties birthday party earlier this year complete with actual S Club 7, shared some hilarious clips from the party.

‘We celebrated @maddiechester heading off to get married next week with a little office hen do,’ Zoe wrote.

The 29-year-old went on to share a clip of the beautifully decorated room, featuring a big sign declaring ‘Same penis forever’, some delicious snacks, and some bubbly.

‘Decided it would be fun to mould body parts out of clay…So you can imagine where this may have gone,’ Zoe teased, before sharing a snap of herself and her friends proudly holding up their intricately sculpted clay penises, vaginas and boobs.

‘Chuffed to “bits,”‘ she joked, before sharing some gorgeous snaps of the bride-to-be, the hens, and a sweet dog friend.

All in a day’s work.

The star previously pledged to get real with her fans on social media after admitting she felt ‘suffocated’ by the pressures of Instagram.

‘I spoke a bit last year about the pressure, expectation & fear of posting that I have often experienced through my decade of sharing, but now more than ever, I second guess a lot of things I say or post,’ she said at the beginning of this year.

‘I also know that SO many of you do the same thing (regardless of follower count) & you can end up feeling a little suffocated & disconnected.’

Zoe went on to say: ‘I took a little trip down memory lane looking back at my Instagram on my stories last night and the feedback has been INSANE! I can’t even tell you how many messages I received from you all (including fellow social influencer posters) saying you felt the same way & that you didn’t feel you could compete with the “glossiness” that a large part of Instagram has become.’

Making a pledge to her fans, the influencer continued: ‘I’m going to make a conscious effort this year, to post more without second guessing, or contemplating a perfect caption that won’t offend anyone, or appear like my life is so well put together.

‘To be as honest as I can & not care too much if the filter I used “doesn’t go with my grid”, just as I used to! I follow a lot of accounts, & the ones that bring me the most joy, inspiration & reassurance are the accounts that do just that.’

Anton admitted he ‘froze’ during his Survival of the Fittest interview (Picture: ITV/Rex Features)

Before Love Island, Anton Danyluk very nearly appeared on Survival of the Fittest.

The 24-year-old revealed on the latest episode of BBC Radio 1’s The Reality Tea podcast that he applied to be on the ITV2 series, which aired in early 2018.

Anton admitted that he had no idea what he actually got himself into and that it didn’t quite go to plan.

‘Me personally speaking, I actually applied for Survival of The Fittest. My chat was rubbish to be honest, I didn’t know what I was applying for I just went for it,’ he said.

The Love Island star admitted that he ‘froze’ during his interview, but this experience helped him to become more prepared for his Love Island audition, which he practiced for in the mirror.

‘I went into the interview and just froze to be honest but from that when I went for my Love Island audition I felt I was more prepared and knew what to expect, that’s why I just believe everything happens for a reason,’ he continued.

‘That’s why sometimes rejection can be leading you onto something better. I practised in the mirror, I had a few speeches and some notes in my phone.’

And it wasn’t just Anton – Dani Dyer, who won Love Island’s fourth series in 2018, was a part of the Survival of the Fittest cast, but she had to withdraw on the second day after injuring her shoulder during a challenge.

Survival of the Fittest, which was hosted by Laura Whitmore, was produced by the same company behind Love Island and was intended to be a companion show to the dating series.

Filmed in South Africa, the series starred two teams of girls and boys, who had to compete against each other in physical and mental challenges throughout the series’ run.

The winning team, the girls, got to split £10,000 between each other.

Unfortunately, the series was cancelled due to low ratingsbut with a winter series of Love Island set to air in early 2020, it looks as if Survival of the Fittest has an appropriate replacement.

Jim and Pam - The Office US
Jim and Pam had what it takes to stand the test of time (Picture: NBC)

It’s hard to be an old romantic in the 21st century when it seems every celebrity couple or TV show romance always ends in divorce, messy split, or someone cheating on the other.

So whenever we see something resembling true love, we ship it to the end of the world and all around the internet forever and a day.

On telly, there’s one couple that have stood the test of time as ultimate relationship goals for everyone who watched them – Jim and Pam from The Office US.

So what is it about their relationship that makes it work, and can it be applied to a real life relationship?

Well, according to Zoe Coetzee, relationship expert at EliteSingles.co.uk, it’s because Jim and Pam are so realistic, instead of a fairy tale romance, that makes their romance worth rooting for and ability to survive.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk, Zoe explained: ‘In today’s world the idea of finding your soulmate can be seen as antiquated, alongside the notion of each person having one true love.

Starting their relationship as friends built ground for honesty, compromise and laughter (Picture: NBC)

‘Their relationship was un-glossed, faced struggles and was authentic in many ways. Their relationship is the realistic relationship everyone hopes for, and better yet, can achieve because the ingredients are not the elusive magic of discovering your soulmate.

‘Instead, they’re all about having the fundamentals in place for a healthy, happy and lasting partnership.’

So what is the secret behind having a relationship like Jim and Pam’s?

‘Although at times they could be regarded as a co-dependent couple,’ Zoe admitted. ‘The soul of their partnership covers the basics so well they hit most relationship goals out the park.’

Even after getting married, the pair worked on their relationship to keep it afloat no matter what (Picture: NBC)

She explained: ‘To begin with they built a strong foundation. They were best friends for years and this gave them a solid starting point of trust and understanding to build their romantic relationship on, which is also evident in how they can be real with each other.

‘Importantly, they have fun, pranking Dwight being one of the best examples of this. A couple who can really laugh together can make it a lifetime, and they’re great at being silly and having a good time!’

‘Another key element,’ the expert added. ‘Is being honest with each other. Despite the years it took for them to get together, they told each other how they felt. This honesty clearly continued as they became a couple.

‘They also trusted each other, not allowing jealousy into their relationship and choosing to believe the best in each other. This security is evident in the way they support each other’s dreams and avoid controlling one another.’

As a result, whether it be Jim having to ignore Cathy’s seduction efforts in season sight, or Pam having to deal with Jim being away for work with Athlead for days at a time, or even seeking counselling, the pair have what it takes to keep themselves afloat.

‘They met and overcame real challenges to stand the test of time,’ Zoe explained.

‘At the end of the day, they choose to make a compromise to make the relationship work. put their family first and move to Austin.’

‘This is a tale of what it takes to make a real relationship work and is perhaps why they are now one of the most beloved TV couples of their generation,’ she continues.

‘In an age of constantly swiping for greener pastures, they showed us some things are worth stopping and holding on to.’

The Office US is available in full on Amazon Prime Video.

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends - at least they're getting work again
Bubble Bobble 4 Friends – at least they’re getting work again

After years in the wilderness there’s finally going to be a new Bubble Bobble game, with a four-player sequel coming to Switch.

The fact that Rainbow Islands is one of the best games ever made is a fact now sadly forgotten by most gamers, with the game no longer being easily available on any modern format.

The same is true of its predecessor Bubble Bobble, which was one of the great co-op arcade games of the 80s but which has also now been largely forgotten. But no longer.

Bubble Bobble 4 Friends is a four-player co-op game for Switch and will be out in Europe on 19 November, which unusually is earlier than the spring 2020 release date for America.

As much as we welcome the return though we can’t say the trailer is all that encouraging, with a very bland art style that seems to lose all the charm of the original.

The four-player aspect sounds fun though, so hopefully it plays better than it looks.

Original creator Taito are now owned by Square Enix but they’ve been largely dormant in recent years and Bubble Bobble 4 is actually being published by Germany company ININ Games.

Bubble Bobble 4 is one of the first new releases since Taito decided to start making games for current generation formats, with Ninja Warriors Saviours due out at the end of the month and Darius Cozmic Collection which is currently only planned for Japan.

So maybe there is a chance of a new Rainbow Islands after all…

Netflix’s The Family documentary series is leaving viewers ‘stunned’ and ‘f****d up’

Netflix recently dropped their latest documentary series, The Family – and it is fair to say, people are being left shook to the core.

The five-episode series, based on a series of investigative novels by Jeff Sharlet, documents a highly-conservative Christian group, who go by the name of ‘The Family’, and their influence on American politics over the years. The show also makes reference to political figures such as the Obamas, and current US president Donald Trump.

The series, which stars James Cromwell, David Rysdahl and Ben Rosenfield, seems to suggest that ‘The Family’ consists of many leading world figures in both politics and religion, and this has left viewers shocked and stunned.

And those who watched had plenty to say on Twitter.

‘The Family on Netflix. Must watch,’ one fan said. ‘All these organisations and corruption and people wonder why and how Trump is in power.’

‘Yo, The Family on Netflix has me top tier f****d up,’ another added.

While one other Twitter user questioned: ‘Why aren’t more people talking about #TheFamily on Netflix?! This s*** is the explanation for all the corruption in the world.’

Meanwhile, one viewer claims that the docuseries is so compelling, that it left them unable to get to sleep.

‘Decided to try and watch The Family on Netflix until I fall asleep. A few minutes in and I am already too horrified to sleep. What a bunch of nut jobs,’ he said.

Another agreed, as they replied: ‘Watched last night and was in a ‘horror film can’t sleep ever again’ place by the end.’

It certainly sounds as if it is gripping viewing, that will give an inside look into the behind-the-scenes of American politics, and the corruption that goes on.

The Family is available for streaming on Netflix.

For fans of The Sopranos, watching James Gandolfini’s son Michael step into his shoes to play his iconic character, Tony Soprano, will be bittersweet.

The 19-year-old budding actor is taking on the legendary role for The Sopranos prequel, The Many Saints of Newark.

Michael was just 14 when his dad died in 2013 aged 51, and only started watching the acclaimed HBO series when he was cast to bring Tony back to life.

In an interview with Esquire, he opened up about the ‘difficult decision’ to accept the role.

‘As I got older he wanted me to play sports. I felt that burden. I wanted to make him proud,’ he said.

‘And he said, “Don’t be an actor; be a director. They have the power.”’

Michael said acting helped his grieving process and landed a role in season two of The Deuce as Joey Dwyer.

Before auditioning for The Many Saints of Newark, Michael had ‘never watched a minute of The Sopranos’.

‘The hardest part of this whole process was watching the show for the first time.’

He added: ‘It was an intense process. Because, as an actor, I had to watch this guy who created the role, to look for mannerisms, voice, all those things I would have to echo.

‘But then I’d also be seeing my father.’

The Many Saints of Newark is due to come out in September next year and will be a feature-length prequel.

It will look at the formative years of Tony in New Jersey, with several characters from the series shown as their younger selves.

Confirmed cast members include Alessandro Nivola, Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, Ray Liotta, John Magaro, Leslie Odom Jr, Michela De Rossi and Joey Diaz.

The Many Saints of Newark is coming to HBO in 2020.
