Youtuber Jake Paul has followed in the footsteps of his older brother, Logan Paul, when it comes to making headlines in the boxing arena, after taking on fellow Youtubers AnEsonGib in a match last night.
The showdown, which took place in Miami, is the result of a fierce rivalry between the two internet stars.
The tense build-up to the match, which had turned nasty recently, culminated in the American and British rivals choosing not to touch gloves at the beginning of the fight.
Who won the Jake Paul vs Gib fight?
Jake Paul emerged triumphant from the boxing match against British Youtuber AnEsonGib, winning by first-round KO after a couple of minutes.
Paul secured a flash knockdown in the opening stages of the match before dropping Gib a second time only a few exchanges later.
The referee blew the whistle to call off the match at the 2:18 mark.
A confident Paul was quick to follow his swift win by challenging another Youtuber, KSI, to fight him.
The British Internet star KSI beat Paul’s brother Logan in a boxing match at the end of 2019, but the fight ended with some controversy, with Paul deducted two points for a late hit after a knockdown while the referee missed a knockdown from KSI after a clean punch.
‘KSI’s next,’ Jake Paul said after his victory in the ring this week. ‘I didn’t have to f***ing win by two points. You had to beat my bro by a made call.’
KSI rejected Logan Paul’s plea for another rematch following their November 2019 face-off, but following Jake’s challenge last night, KSI – real name Olajide Olayinka Williams ‘JJ’ Olatunji – responded with talk to Logan’s younger brother, promising to ‘f*** him up’.
Whether the pair will actually face off in the ring together in the future remains to be seen.
