Pop sensation Mabel has been forced to cancel the Italy part of her Europe tour as the country is struggling to contain the coronavirus.
The number of confirmed cases in the country has now reached 200, and a sixth person died from it on Monday.
And as the virus doesn’t show signs of stopping, Mabel was forced to break bad news to her fans and tell them she’s not going to be performing.
The Brit award-winner was meant to be playing in Milan at the Magazine Generali tonight but has now called it off.
Mabel told her fans on Twitter, promising them she would try to reschedule the concert.
‘Due to recent events concerning the Coronavirus in Italy, we’ve been advised by the Minister of Health and the President of the Lombardy region not to go ahead with tomorrow’s show in Milan,’ the 24-year-old wrote.
‘So sad to have to write this, but safety is the absolute priority here!
‘Hoping to reschedule soon. Love Mx.’
Italy has had to lock down towns and cancel events for the Venice Carnival. They’ve even been disinfecting boats and gondolas in a bid to fight Covid-19, also known as coronavirus.
So far everyone who has died from the disease has been elderly, with two of the six people also suffering from underlying health problems.
The news that Mabel has cancelled her Italy leg will be disappointing to fans.
Fresh from winning her Brit Award for British female solo artist, the Don’t Call Me Up singer is giving it her all with these string of concerts.
She’s just played X and is getting ready to play Zurich, Switzerland tomorrow and Paris, France on Wednesday.
Mabel is planning to go ahead with all the rest of her upcoming tour dates.
