Kyle MacLachlan celebrated Twin Peaks Day yesterday in the best way possible as he returned as Agent Dale Cooper…via TikTok.
February 24 is an important date for fans of David Lynch’s mind-bending murder mystery, as its officially the date that Coop arrived in the infamous town to investigate the murder of Laura Palmer in the pilot.
Now, every year fans gather on this one day to celebrate the legacy of the genre-defining show, which ran for two seasons before being revied in 2017 for the 18-episode third series, subtitled The Return.
And it seems that lead actor MacLachlan is definitely keeping up with the changing times as he posted a TikTok tribute to his iconic introduction.
In the original scene, Coop is driving through to Twin Peaks, recording a message for his unseen assistant Diane on his dictaphone.
‘Diane, it’s 11.30am, February 24th,’ the Blue Velvet actor wrote, quoting his introductory line. ‘Entering the town of Twin Peaks…’
And the rest, as they say, is history.

Of course, those in the know will realise that the mythical Diane was never seen in the original series, before finally being unveiled in her multi-coloured wigged and chain-smoking glory, played by now-Academy Award winner Laura Dern.
The show was last seen on our screens in 2017 for the aforementioned Return, which we named the most underrated TV series of the decade last year.
Ever since then, fans have been clamouring for news of another sequel series. While nothing has been announced, creator, writer and director Lynch has already said ‘never say never’ in regards to making another series.
‘It’s too early to say right now,’ Lynch told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. ‘I’ve learned never say never.’
Hopefully a viral Twin Peaks TikTok challenge will be all the hint he needs…
Lynch is, however, as busy as ever aside from his most famous creation – he recently debuted a typically confusing and confounding short film to Netflix featuring himself interrogating a monkey.
Twin Peaks seasons 1-3 are available to stream via NOW TV.
