Everyone loves a walk down memory lane and this week it seems someone has just discovered The Grand Tour’s Jeremy Clarkson was once Mr Blobby’s chauffeur.
Just another reminder the 90s was a much better time than now.
For anyone who needs a slight reminder about who the heck we’re going on about, Mr Blobby was that loveable haphazard star of the 90s who was basically a walking calamity. He both endeared and terrified the masses.
And Jeremy Clarkson is a TV host.
Anyway, now you’re up to speed, Mr Blobby shot to fame in the early 90s on Noel’s House Party, and went on to have this incredible number one hit with a video that featured Jeremy Clarkson.
And that is where we lay our scene, after a Reditter posted online on Wednesday: ‘Today I learned that Clarkson is Mr. Blobby’s chauffeur, and I’m not the same as I used to be.’
We don’t blame you, dear u/GripKing2000.
This thing seems to crop up every few years, when someone happens upon Mr Blobby’s clip – we don’t want to know what compels someone to look the video up, but that’s neither here nor there – and shares their bewilderment online.
Throwing it back in 1993, well into his first major television presenting role on Top Gear, which began in 1988, Clarkson moonlighted as the curly-haired limousine driver for our dear old Mr Blobby.
He appears in the Christmas number one hit around the 31-second mark, clearly fed up with Mr Blobby as he rolled his eyes.
And then, just like that, he was gone.
If you take a peep on the YouTube clip of the song, one fan wrote: ‘Okay. I feel like not enough people know that Jeremy clarkson was mr blobbys chauffeur.’
And that’s where we come in.
Another simply asked: ‘Is that Clarkson being Blobbys driver?!?’ as one hilariously replied: ‘What many people don’t know is Blobby later went on to become The Stig.’
It’s a blobshell, guys.
Carol Vorderman also made an appearance though, as did Noel Edmonds, whose show made Mr Blobby a household name.
What a time to be alive, guys.
