**Spoilers for the finale episode of Flesh And Blood**

Flesh And Blood came to an end tonight after having us glued to our televisions for the past four days – yet the final episode didn’t satisfy most audiences.

The closing scenes of the new ITV thriller, starring Imelda Staunton and Stephen Rea, finally confirmed who was attacked on the night of the accident, so look away now if you don’t want spoilers.

A flashback of the evening in question revealed how Jake went head to head against Mark as he confronted him about the death of his late wife. As things started to get heated, Vivien fainted and her kids scrambled to help, pushing doctor Mark out of the way in the process.

Mark and Jake then took things outside and threw punches at each other, until Mark was accidentally shoved over the balcony in the heat of the moment.

Nosy neighbour was on hand to calm everyone down and after she ordered the children to call the emergency services, she went down to check on Mark, holding her hands over his nose and mouth in a final attempt to kill him off.

While doctors weren’t convinced that Mark would survive, last scenes showed the character waking up – with police confirming that he does really have a daughter.

Fans weren’t too pleased with how Flesh And Blood came to an end and rushed to Twitter to share their disappointment.

One fumed: ‘Another drama with a weird ending. I’m a bit sick of investing time expecting to see a well wrapped up finale and then being left confused.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another added: ‘Really enjoyed #FleshandBlood but found the ending an anticlimax.’

But not everyone was raging, with one simply writing: ‘Excellent final episode, well done @ITV and everyone involved with #FleshAndBlood.’

Showrunner Sarah Williams teased that Flesh And Blood could return with a second-inning – and with how the first series ended we sure do need answers.

Speaking to Metro.co.uk and other publications at the press screening, she said: ‘There is further meat on the bone.

‘I love these characters, I did get very attached to all of them and I would love to follow all of their stories. But I think we’re getting ahead of ourselves. We have to see if anyone watches this first.’

Flesh And Blood is available to stream on the ITVHub.
