Little Big will be representing Russia at Eurovision 2020, it’s now been confirmed.
The band, who say they fall under the category ‘punk-pop-rave’, will definitely be spicing things up in Rotterdam, if their previous tracks are anything to go by.
Eurovision’s official Twitter account announced their entry on Monday, after Russia’s public broadcaster C1R picked the band to represent the country this time round.
It’s reported Little Big will perform in the first half of the first Eurovision semi-final on 12 May, in a few months time.
It’s not yet been announced which song the band will be performing. Little Big have until 9 March to submit their song.
Little Big is made up of members Ilya Prusikin, Sonya Tayurskaya, Anton Lissov and Sergey Makarov. The band hails from St. Petersburg and apparently are already a pretty big deal across dancefloors in Russia and Europe.
Their hit Skibidi – a rave tune – went viral after hitting 23 million views on YouTube in just one week. It now sits at over 362million views and the dance the band are doing in the music video has become meme-worthy in their native.
Something tells us it may just catch on…
Eurovision’s grand final takes place on 16 May and Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Portugal, San Marino, Sweden and Switzerland are still yet to confirm their entries.
But while there still may be two months to go until the big night, Iceland are already being tipped to win this year, after Daði Freyr and Gagnamagnið were selected as Iceland’s entry on Saturday night.
The band’s song Think About Things quickly went viral and now they’re looking at odds of 4/1 to dominate in Rotterdam this year, according to Paddy Power.
Romania are hot on their heels at 6/1 with Roxen and her song Alcohol You, and Lithuania are also at 6/1 with their act The Roop and their song On Fire.
Russia found itself next in the favourites list, along with Sweden, at 11/1.
Russia’s odds came in before the country’s act was actually announced.
