Sophie Turner was worried husband Joe Jonas would turn out to be ‘a d**k’ when they first met.
The Game Of Thrones star took along some male friends when she saw the man who would become her husband in person for the first time, in case he turned out not to be who he said he was.
Given that Joe is a fairly famous pop star, Sophie expected him to show up to their date flanked by a full entourage.
But down to earth Joe just brought a mate for moral support (and help him drink Sophie and her friends under the table), and that was part of what made Sophie fall for him in the beginning.
She told ELLE: ‘I expected him to show up with security and everything. I thought he would be such a d**k. I took all my guy friends with me to meet him, because in the back of my mind I was worried he could be a catfish, or… I don’t know what. I just wanted my guy friends with me. I had my rugby boys. I was safe.’
‘The best thing was that he didn’t bring security. He brought a friend and they drank just as hard as the rest of us.
‘I remember us two spending only a couple of minutes on the dance floor, and then we found a space in the far corner and we just talked.
‘We talked for hours, and hours, and hours. And I wasn’t bored. It wasn’t contrived, it wasn’t small talk – it was just so easy. Soon, we were inseparable. And then I went on tour with him.’
Sophie also confessed that she wasn’t a fan of the Jonas Brothers, as her younger self believed it was Joe, Nick and Kevin’s fault that British boyband Busted split.
She said: ‘We liked Busted. They had a hit called Year 3000, it was amazing. We were huge fans. Then the Jonas Brothers covered the song and made it massive, and Busted broke up. It was all the Jonas Brothers’ fault. So we hated them.’
Thankfully she seems to have got over that now.
Sophie and Joe, 27, wed in Las Vegas last year, followed by a more traditional ceremony in France with their nearest and dearest.
The couple recently spent Sophie’s birthday with friends in Paris amid the Jonas Brothers world tour.
The actress is reportedly pregnant with the couple’s first child, and while neither of them have directly addressed the rumours, Sophie has been covering her stomach while out and about of late, and was recently spotted shopping for kids clothes.
The April issue of ELLE UK is on sale from 05 March 2020.
