f(x) star Luna has opened up on the heartbreaking last conversation she had with her friend Sulli, who tragically passed away last year.
The K-Pop stars were close friends, both forming part of f(x) before Sulli’s death, which was ruled as a suspected suicide.
Luna said: ‘Before Sulli went to heaven, she contacted me saying she missed me. She spoke to me informally for the first time in 15 years. She said, “Unni, I miss you, unni.”
‘I really felt that she sent the message after holding it in for a long time, so as her unni, I felt sorry. I should’ve gone to talk to her first. I should’ve at least said something. I should’ve told her I loved her more.’
She added on Human Documentary – I Like People (via AllKPop): ‘I got my dog around the time we were promoting the song Hot Summer. At the time, Sulli was so lonely that my mom and I decided that we should get a dog. The dog that came to the dorm was Bobby. Sulli’s first dog.’
Sulli, whose real name was Choi Jin-ri, was scouted by South Korea’s largest entertainment company, SM Entertainment when she was 16 years old and initially forged a career as a young actress.
She was then recruited by SM to join their new five-member dance-focused pop group, f(x). The band was compromised of Sulli and Luna, as well as fellow stars Victoria, Amber, and Krystal.
The singer had been open about her struggles with trolling, having left f(x) on hiatus in 2014 due to the malicious comments she was receiving online.
A statement at the time from SM Entertainment read: ‘f(x) member Sulli became mentally and physically exhausted from the continuous, malicious comments and false rumours, and has expressed her wish to take a break from her celebrity activities for the time being.
‘After careful deliberation and taking her wish into consideration, we will reduce her activities and let her take a break for the time being.’
A year later, in August 2015, Sulli confirmed she was leaving the group for good, before passing away in 2019.
Tributes for the star flooded in, with friends and fans being left heartbroken by the tragic news.
