Kanye West told festival-goers at Glastonbury that he was the ‘greatest living rock star on the planet’ but reviewers didn’t seem to entirely agree.
The rapper got off to a strong start with his set, which featured Golddigger, N***as In Paris and New Slaves, but critics claimed an interlude involving Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon and a series of Auto-Tuned ballads was ‘self-indulgent’ before he recovered the set with some crowd-pleasing hits.
A cover of Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody was described as ‘bizarrely beautiful’ (The Independent).
The consensus seems to be that he put on a good performance although the overall set was branded ‘disjointed’ (The Guardian).
