RIP Roger Rees, the Welsh actor who so brilliantly played one of our favourite characters from the Emmy award-winning drama The West Wing – the colourful, aloof, and salacious British ambassador Lord John Marbury.
The actor passed away at the age of 71 at his home in New York, reported his representative.
The news came less than two months after Roger left a production of Durrenmatt’s The Visit on Broadway for an unknown medical procedure.
As Lord John Marbury, ‘Earl of Croy, Marquess of Needham and Dolby, Baronet of Brycey, England’s ambassador to the United States’, Roger bought to life a character who in other hands could have fallen into caricature.
