This could be bad news for fans of BBC singing contest The Voice as rumours suggest that it is top of the government’s hit-list in a major BBC overhaul.
The programme, which features judges Tom Jones and Will.i.am, is a steady competitor for The X Factor on ITV, but with Culture Secretary John Whittingdale due to announce plans to revamp the Beeb on Thursday, it looks like the next series could well be the last.
According to The Mirror, Whittingdale believes that the show should be scrapped, with a source saying: ‘He thinks those sort of programmes are the first that should go.’
He could also announce plans to scrap the controversial license fee.
