Amanda Holden reckons Britain’s Got Talent has found an auditionee who shares similarities with Adele.
It may be the 17th series of the ITV show but they are certainly not running out of talent to showcase.
The longest-serving judge Amanda, 53, was so impressed she felt compelled to hit the golden buzzer twice.
When judges Amanda, Simon Cowell, Bruno Tonioli, Alesha Dixon or hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly press the button it automatically advances the act to the semi-finals.
The first person to get the special treatment was a singer who reminded Amanda of how she began her career.
‘It just felt how I was when I was starting out, she’d done some bits and bobs or whatever. I was lucky I went on to work, but she’s just not had that break she deserves,’ she explained.

Despite not yet having her big break, she’s already got a fan in Amanda.
‘The version of the song she sang was so amazing, and considering how many people have done it, for it to have had such an impact, it really affected me,’ she enthused.
‘I was blown away by her and I really hope this is going to give her a kickstart to a
career that she’s destined to have.’

Paying the ultimate compliment, Amanda shared that the unknown artist had ‘Adele vibes’. Adele has won 16 Grammy Awards, 12 Brit Awards, and has four best-selling albums under her belt, so if she possesses some of her star power, we could see big things in the future.
‘I said to Simon that she had Adele vibes because she was really down to earth, very funny,’ Amanda recalled.
‘I thought she was going to do stand-up when she came on. So she was a little diamond, a little bit rough around the edges, but super charming, very charismatic, very relatable. I thought, “God, she’s a little star”.’
Amanda’s second chosen act is a little more shrouded in mystery, and all she’s revealed is that they made her ‘howl with laughter’ and that ‘no one else is doing it’.

Her second choice may surprise people, even those closest to her – husband Chris Hughes and children Lexi, 18, and Hollie, 12: ‘I kept thinking of what my husband and kids would think when they were watching it and saw who I pressed my buzzer for. They won’t see it coming, it’s not an act that anyone would think I’d press the buzzer for.’
Altogether, there were nine golden buzzers so viewers have plenty of standout acts to look forward to watching. Amanda also teased a particularly impressive opera singer, who could potentially win.
Looking back over the winners, including clown Viggo Venn, comedy singer Jon Courtenay and opera star Paul Potts she believes they all have one thing in common – they are down-to-earth underdogs.
Britain’s Got Talent starts Saturday April 20 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX
