Beneath the surface, however, the 21st century Sherlock isn’t really so different to 19th century Holmes.

Six of the nine episodes derive titles from original stories: A Study in Pink (Scarlet), A Scandal in Belgravia (Bohemia), The Hounds of Baskerville (Hound of the Baskervilles), The Empty Hearse (House), The Sign of Three (Four) and His Last Vow (Bow).

Several cases referenced in the series or on Watson’s blog refer to Conan Doyle stories, such as The Geek (Greek) Interpreter and The Speckled Blonde (Band).
