Despite Another Simple Favor soaring to the top of Amazon Prime Video charts days after it was released, there is one shocking scene that has left viewers truly disturbed.
The comedy thriller sequel premiered on the streaming platform on May 1, with Blake Lively and Anna Kendrick reprising their roles as Emily Nelson and Stephanie Smothers.
In the flick, the pair headed to Capri for the PR maven’s extravagant wedding, but the celebrations were derailed by a string of deaths, and questions over who had murderous intentions.
However, while Paul Feig’s follow-up is dominating the charts, many have taken aim at the plot, including ‘horrifying’ scenes where Blake – who plays triplets Emily, Faith and Charity – kisses, and sexually assaults, her twin.
While the 2018 original also had an incestual theme, with a running joke over ‘brother-f**ker’ Stephanie sleeping with her half-brother, fans were disgusted by the new twist and flocked to social media to unpack the footage.
Twitter user Sparkles posted: ‘GUYSSSS I AM HORRIFIED. I decided to watch Another Simple Favor and why is Blake Lively’s characters twin making sexual advances to her HEEELPP [sic].’

In a discussion on the film over on Reddit, Coopyoli posted: ‘I liked it cause of Anna Kendrick, I thought she was super funny in this one. The incestuous scene grossed me out though.’
‘Agreed it was so weird and unnecessary,’ Kalesxoxo replied.
Lovesgnomes penned: ‘The assault scene with the sister sat very wrong with me.
‘I thought that bit was too dark for a comedy like this, and to have Stephanie immediately make an off color joke about it absolutely destroyed any pretense of a friendship between her and Emily.

‘The dynamic of two people who don’t like each other wasn’t fun to watch, and there were so many questions I still had at the end.’
‘You’re so right about the assault scene,’ Sicko-Mode commented. ‘It was quite messed up and they just immediately joked it off.’
Calchal agreed: ‘I know these films are frivolous and flippant… where someone important in your life can die and you just shrug it off with a “huh, oh well…” but playing off incest/rape/molestation as a joke is certainly a choice.’
As Cattybartender added: ‘The incest thing with Blake and Blake is weird. That’s my biggest takeaway.’

Appearing at the SXSW premiere of Another Simple Favor earlier this year, Blake shared the moment that Paul approached her with a ‘curveball’ plot twist concerning her on-screen siblings.
‘I love this character so much. It’s probably my favorite character I’ve ever been fortunate enough to play,’ she told Entertainment Weekly of playing Emily in the sequel.
‘I was like, “Okay, no nerves. I know what I’m doing this time,”’ she continued. ‘And then right before we started shooting, he [Paul] said, “I have a little bit of a curveball idea,” which I’m not going to say what it was because we don’t want to give away anything, but it definitely upped the ante.
‘It was very uncomfortable to watch in this theater with you guys.’

A Simple Favor caused a huge stir when it was released seven years ago, and followed the story of vlogger Stephanie, who begins investigating the mysterious disappearance of Emily, a fellow mom at her son’s school.
In sequel, also starring Henry Golding, Andrew Rannels, Allison Janney and Elizabeth Perkins, they reunite at Emily’s wedding to a mysterious businessman in Italy, but it’s not long before things take a turn.
The official synopsis reads: ‘Stephanie Smothers (Anna Kendrick) and Emily Nelson (Blake Lively) reunite on the beautiful island of Capri, Italy, for Emily’s extravagant wedding to a rich Italian businessman.
‘Along with the glamorous guests, expect murder and betrayal to RSVP for a wedding with more twists and turns than the road from the Marina Grande to the Capri town square.’
Another Simple Favor is available to watch on Amazon Prime Video now.
