Amazon Prime Video viewers are ‘hopelessly hooked’ by a little-known horror TV show that has recently been added to the platform.
They have been ‘devouring’ every episode Australian drama Wolf Creek, which has flown under the radar since its initial release in 2016.
A spin-off of the movie of the same name, the show follows Eve (Lucy Fry), a 19-year-old American tourist in Australia, who is targeted by the crazed serial killer Mick Taylor (John Jarratt).
However, she survives his attack and embarks on a mission of revenge.
Both seasons of Wolf Creek, which initially aired on streamer Stan, are now available to binge-watch on Amazon Prime Video.
On Google, viewers have hailed the horror as ‘phenomenal’ but warned it was ‘not for the faint-hearted.’
Among them is Barbara Clark, who wrote: ‘Of course I love John but I have to say the lead Lucy was phenomenal! She made season one just insanely good. I also loved her transformation from an entitled teen to a very grown-up assassin looking for justice.’
Echoing their sentiment, Laura Blondin said: ‘What a crazy ride!! It’s not for the faint of heart!! It’s pretty gory!! If you can make it through the first episode you’re pretty much hooked, lined and sinkered.. no pun intended..’
Karen Christie penned: ‘Started watching Wolf Creek, the series. Bad move. I was hopelessly hooked and devoured every episode. Absolutely brilliant Australian acting and production – and John Jarratt – what can I say – he is an amazing, charismatic and talented actor. He makes me feel like a mere mortal!!’

The original 2005 film has a similar premise, following John’s serial killer Mick, who hunts three backpackers in the Australian outback.
It was said to be based on the real-life murders of seven backpackers in New South Wales by Ivan Milat from 1989 to 1993, and the murder of English backpacker Peter Falconio, who was killed by Bradley John Murdoch in 2001.
Over on Netflix, horror fans have been rediscovering one of the ‘best horror series’ ever.
French horror Marianne arrived on the streaming platform in 2019 – telling the story of horror writer Emma (Victoire du Bois) as she returns to her hometown- but has found a new audience.
‘Possibly the best horror series I’ve ever seen. I’m about to give it a rewatch,’ wrote one audience reviewer on Rotten Tomatoes, where the series has a 100% rating.
Marianne even has some fans in high places, with horror icon Stephen King heaping praise on the show, and comparing it to Netflix hit Stranger Things.
‘If you’re one of those sickos–like me–who enjoys being scared, MARIANNE (Netflix) will do the job,’ he wrote on X.’There are glints of humor that give it a STRANGER THINGS vibe. It also has (I say it with all due modesty) a Stephen King vibe.’
