It’s one of the most famous catchphrases in cartoon history – but when was the first time Bugs Bunny actually uttered the phrase ‘what’s up doc?’
Well it happened during this cartoon, 1940’s A Wild Hare – and with the now infamous animated rabbit celebrating his 75th birthday, the Oscar-winning cartoon has enjoyed a surge in popularity.
The short sees Bugs – who at that point wasn’t called Bugs at all – outwitting Elmer Fudd for the very first time as he goes on a ‘wabbit’ hunt.
And the ‘what’s up doc?’ line ultimately proved so popular with audiences that it went on to become his legendary catchphrase.
