Max von Sydow has landed a major role in the new series of Game of Thrones.
The veteran actor, 86, has been cast as the Three-Eyed Raven, the mystical tutor of Bran Stark, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Von Sydow is taking over the part from Struan Rodger, who appeared briefly in season four, when the bird from Bran Stark’s dreams was transformed into a human.
The Swedish-French star is famous for his work with director Ingmar Bergman and has appeared in a host of films including The Exorcist, Minority Report, Flash Gordon and Never Say Never Again.
