Wow – we Brits seriously love our cakes. Either that, or we can’t get enough of sexual innuendo in the kitchen.
Whatever the reason for its success, Great British Bake Off proved once more what a titan show it has become by pulling in almost ten million viewers. Not bad for a Wednesday night.
The series debut attracted 9.3 million viewers and is more than two million up on last year’s opening episode, which had 7.2 million.
Comparatively, the X Factor’s finale, which aired over a weekend last year, was less, holding only 9.1 million viewers.
