One of this year’s Great British Bake Off contestants has already got herself into hot water after it was revealed that she was professionally trained in Paris.
Marie quickly became one of the favourites to win the new series of the BBC show after being crowned week one’s star baker, but the 66-year-old grandmother learned her craft at Ecole Escoffier – an acclaimed Parisian school where she specialised in patisserie.
Marie’s first challenge on the show was to bake a Madeira cake which the judges later deemed ‘perfect’ and her classic black forest gateau also went down a storm, but the Mail on Sunday have learnt that Marie learnt her craft from Paris’s best bakers.
