
Being in a band is something many of us do: for example, according to the Office of National Statistics one in four of us has been a member of Sugababes and one in five a member of The Fall.
It’s a top laugh, a rite of passage and a great way to visit places that smell of armpits. Here are 17 things you’ll only know if you play in a band.
1. It’s mainly boring
For every half-hour gig there are hours of hanging around and sometimes even more hours looking out of a van window. Charlie Watts of the Rolling Stones famously described being in a band as five years playing and 20 hanging around. That sounds awfully busy to us.
