Ellen Page went head to head with Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz at an Iowa State Fair on Friday as she asked the Texan senator about LGBT rights and religious freedoms.
The senator is a staunch evangelical Christian and responded to Ellen’s claims that LGBT Americans were being fired for their sexuality by suggesting that ‘Bible-believing Christians’ were also being ‘persecuted for living according to their faith’.
‘You’re discriminating against LGBT people,’ retorted Ellen before adding: ‘People used that argument in the segregation era.’
