A reader wishes that Hollywood would stop trying to be like video games, and that video games would stop pretending they’re movies…
People have been going on about the synergy between video games and movies for years, but I’m still not seeing it. We seem to have got very little out of this partnership, except endless rubbish video game movies and, in turn, rubbish movie video games.
But if the end result seems increasingly unprofitable for both sides, why does anyone still persist? And why don’t they at least try some other strategy? Although they tend to make their money back eventually on DVD, no video game movie has ever been a major hit… Read the full story
