Taylor Swift surprised no-one by winning four major awards at the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards – but it was her final speech of the night that got her fans to sit up and take notice.
Accepting the video of the year award for Bad Blood, Taylor spoke out publicly about the criticisms the video has been receiving and how in 2015, gender norms no longer exist.
‘There’s been a lot of discussion about this video and what it means,’ she revealed, before adding: ‘But I’m just happy that in 2015, we live in a world where boys can play princesses and girls can play soldiers.’
