But what if the lyrics were about something even more terrifying than a large bearded man with a sack of gifts?
That’s the basis of new Christmas film, Krampus, which will more likely fill you with festive fear than cheer.
Set on Christmas eve, Krampus stars Adam Scott and Toni Collette as the parents of a Max (Emjay Anthony), a young boy who turns his back on Santa when his dysfunctional family clashes during the holiday.
Soon the whole family end up getting a visit but it ain’t from Father Christmas and Rudolph.
