Director Barry Jenkins has expressed his feelings towards the major Oscars mix-up one year later, saying how his enjoyment of the ceremony was dampened by the incident.
In case you’ve forgotten, last year’s Oscars saw La La Land accidentally crowned winner of Best Picture, with the wrong envelope being read out before they corrected their error after shocked gasps and awarded the Oscar to Barry Jenkins’ Moonlight.
To many it was the slight comical blip in suitably stuffy evening, but for Jenkins it was a ‘bittersweet’ occasion, which sucked his enjoyment out of the moment.
