Well it’s certainly looking that way, following the jaw-dropping revelation that the couple are set to ‘legally separate’ in the first episode of the forthcoming 27th series.
The Simpsons’ executive producer Al Jean broke the news to Variety magazine, saying that the couple’s long-running union will come under ‘incredible strain’ after Homer is found to have the sleeping disorder narcolepsy.
Just to make matters even more complicated, Homer will fall for a pharmacist – voiced by Girls actress Lena Dunham – after he splits from Marge.
