That’s one way to whip your kids into shape.
Stacey Solomon revealed on today’s episode of Loose Women (1 August) that she once took her son Zachary to a police station in a last-ditch effort to instill some discipline into her child.
Speaking in relation to the recent shocking video of a man punching a woman outside a nightclub – and the man’s mother insisting that she would take him to a police station – Stacey said that she’d had previous experience when it came to dealing with the police and her own family.
‘My eldest had a really, really difficult period at one point in his life not too long ago, and I was really struggling to communicate with him,’ she said about Zachary, who turned 10 earlier this year.
‘We were arguing a lot, and he was being really, really rebellious.’
‘It got to the point where it was upsetting,’ she added, before revealing that she reached a limit with her son one day when they were out driving.
‘He was having a really tough time – and I was having a tough time reacting to the way he was behaving – so I pulled into our local police station and I took him inside,’ Stacey explained to the panel.
‘And thank God – because I was at that point when, you know when you’re frustrated with your child that you’re in tears? Because I just didn’t know what to do with him.’
‘[The police] were incredible,’ she said, before explaining that officers had shown her son the set-up in the station – including showing him their cells – and spoken to him at length.
Stacey added that the experience had a positive effect on both herself and her son.
‘And it really changed my life, I know that it was a waste of police time, but it was the best time ever spent. It just changed our life and they were incredible.’
Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV at 12.30pm.
