
Riddle me this, riddle me that… who’s afraid of the big black bat?
Anyone who’s squirmed through 1997’s Batman & Robin, that’s who. Easily the worst Batman film ever made and quite possibly the worst film about a man ever made, it marked an appalling low for its director, Joel Schumacher, who gave us an ’80s gem in The Lost Boys and a few ’90s ones too in Flatliners and Falling Down.
But because of the big Schwarzenegger-sized imprint of crud left by Batman & Robin, the terrific job Schumacher did with its predecessor, 1995’s Batman Forever, is often overlooked.
