It looks as if fans of Shenmue are going to get their much-sought-after third instalment, after a Kickstarter campaign to raise funds to produce the sequel hit its target in just eight hours.
Sony, who launched the fund-raising drive during a press conference at the games exhibition E3, were aiming to raise $2m (£1.3m) to get the game off the ground – with creator Yu Suzuki saying he wanted fans of the game to play a role in its creation.
And as of Tuesday morning, over 26,000 of them had pledged money, with the total soaring past the $2.1m mark a full 31 days before the campaign’s final deadline.
