A woman who has accused R Kelly of sexual abuse has been unable to deliver legal papers to him, thanks to extra tight security at his home in Trump Tower.
Heather Williams launched a civil case against the singer in February, claiming he began abusing her when she was 16-years-old and continued for years.
Documents seen by TMZ explain that Williams has attempted to serve R Kelly, real name Robert Kelly, with the papers but cannot get past his extensive security detail at Trump Tower where he lives. Williams must serve the papers to the singer in order to bring a civil charge against him.
She also tried to send the documents via the local Sheriff’s department, but security would not allow officers to enter his home either.
Now, Williams has turned to the judge in the hope they will file a motion which will allow her to serve the papers to his lawyers, rather than R Kelly himself.
As well as Williams’ civil lawsuit, R Kelly faces 10 criminal charges of aggravated sexual abuse against four separate women, three of whom were underage at the time of the alleged assault. He pleaded not guilty earlier this year, and was subsequently released after a friend posted $100,000 (£75k) of his $1 million (£755k) bail.
R Kelly is due back in court to answer the ten charges of sexual abuse on 22 March, and denies all allegations made against him.
Attorney Michael Avenatti, who has worked on the case against the R&B singer, recounted disturbing details of a video which allegedly shows R Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old. In the footage, which has been handed over to prosecutors, a man thought to be R Kelly can be heard saying: ‘Give me that 14-year-old p***y’ and ‘Give me that 14-year-old b**ty hole’.
This is the second video handed over to prosecutors in connection to the case, and reportedly features the same 14-year-old girl.
R Kelly recently found himself back in prison, just hours after his now notorious interview with Gayle King on CBS News, this time for failing to pay his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly, child support. The singer spent three days in jail before paying the $161,000 overdue payment in full.
