Following the death of Mike Thalassitis, his ex-girlfriend Megan McKenna has been left devastated by the news as she grieves, according to reports.
The Towie star and country singer dated Love Island’s Mike for seven months last year before an acrimonious split, however his death has clearly hit home.
The 26-year-old’s body was found in a North London park over the weekend, with police confirming he died by suicide.
‘Megan is absolutely devastated over Mike’s death. She isn’t ready to comment online yet and will be dealing with her grief in private,’ a source connected to Megan said this week.
The source added to The Sun: ‘This is the toughest time of her life and all she wants is the support of close friends and family.’
Reps for the star confirmed to Metro.co.uk the singer was ‘grieving in private’, as Mike’s many co-stars poured their tributes onto social media with messages and memories.
Megan opened up about her split with the late Mike on Celebs Go Dating weeks before he passed away.
Speaking about their romance, that ended in July 2018, Megan told Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson in the dating agency: ‘I think my last relationship, I was kind of… I think I definitely fell in love.’
Upset by the conversation, the 26-year-old then emotionally shut down the chat, telling the dating experts that she didn’t want to talk about it anymore.
Despite their break up descending into a he said/she said mud-slinging match, Megan had previously shared her hopes of marriage and children with the star.
Weeks before they split, she told OK! Magazine in July last year: ‘I reckon we’ll live together soon. He stays over a lot, so it would definitely work. I do want to marry him – we’d have such an amazing wedding!
‘I want three children and I want them all to look like Mike – he’s got nice tanned skin and green eyes.’
