Director Dan Reed recently released the Michael Jackson documentary Leaving Neverland, where he explored the child abuse accusations made against the singer.
And while viewers were left ‘sick’ after watching the two-part documentary, it seems Dan is already thinking about his next film.
When chatting to Film School Rejects, the 54-year-old opened up on his plans for another project, and how he’s interested in making a film about one of MJ’s trials.
He told the publication that if the alleged victim Gavin Arvizo would be up for discussing his trial, then he would be more than happy of making another film.
Dan said: ‘The film I would really like to make following this one is the trial of Michael Jackson. I could only do that if the victim and his family participate.
He added: ‘If Gavin Arvizo and his family would agree to participate, I would very much like to tell the story of that trial. I think it’s fascinating and astonishing that Michael was acquitted.
‘The way that happened is an amazing story and one that should be told.’
Arvizo first met Jackson when he was just 10-years-old after the star had paid him a visit in hospital while he was being treated for cancer.
In 2003, the boy testified against the singer and claimed that Michael had showed him pornography as well as giving him alcohol.
He also claimed that the star had masturbated in front of him and molested him on a number of occasions.
However, Jackson was cleared of all charges the same year.
Dan Reed tried to contact Gavin while making Leaving Neverland, and claimed to inews: ‘I wrote to Gavin, a very long and carefully worded letter. I’m still very much hoping to hear from him. But he never replied.’
Back in 2018, it’s said his friend Louise Palanker told The Wrap: ‘[Gavin] doesn’t really want to talk about it right now.
‘He just wants to become a man and have a family and a career and not have this be the standout portion of who he is.’
