Megan McKenna has cancelled her Tuesday’s Loose Women appearance following the death of ex-boyfriend Mike Thalassitis.

Love Island star Mike was found dead over the weekend, aged 26, with Megan breaking her silence in a heartbreaking Instagram post on Monday.

A source close to the country singer has revealed that she’s too heartbroken to make her television interview, telling The Sun Online: Megan just couldn’t face appearing on live TV today.

‘Everyone has been really understanding and are giving her time to grieve.’

Megan paid tribute to Mike, who she dated for seven months last year, telling her social media followers:

‘Sorry I haven’t been on social media but I’m in complete shock and trying to come to terms with this. I can’t believe I’m even writing this post.

‘My thoughts and prayers are with Mike’s family.’

She added: ‘Rest in peace Mike.’

Her condolences came after a source said Megan was ‘devastated’ over Mike’s passing, adding to the publication: ‘This is the toughest time of her life and all she wants is the support of close friends and family.’

Megan and Mike split up in July 2018, with Megan opening up about the break-up in a recent episode of Celebs Go Dating last month.

‘I think my last relationship, I was kind of… I think I definitely fell in love,’ she told dating gurus Anna Williamson and Paul Carrick Brunson.

Metro.co.uk have contacted ITV for comment.

Loose Women airs weekdays at 12.30pm on ITV.
