Jeremy Clarkson has revealed he was asked back to host Top Gear – a claim which has been swiftly denied by the BBC.
The TV star stated that an unnamed BBC executive asked him to return to the show last week but he decided to pass because ‘too much has gone on’.
He told The Sun: ‘After I had been compared to Jimmy Savile by someone from the BBC and it was splashed all over a Sunday newspaper, how could I go back?
