He shot to fame with his song about the Class A drug crack cocaine, but now Ed Sheeran has written a song about a Class B narcotic.
Sweet Mary Jane, or so it’s reportedly called, refers to marijuana and the sweet feeling of being on it.
Of course Mary Jane is a nickname for the plant-based drug, and Ed calls it ‘the one’ in the song.
‘I woke up early looking out my bedroom window at the Amsterdam sky / Oh Baby I was high last night / Café clouds and red lights’ is one lyric while another goes ‘I draw you down into my chest / that’s where it feels the best.
