It’s nearly that sweet, sweet time of year: we can stop complaining that, if anything, it’s too hot; it’s acceptable to start layering up again; and we get to tune into the Great British Bake Off each week.
Our new batch of hopeful, wholesome and – most likely for some – hapless contestants are hot off the press, with 13 fresh faces desperate for a Hollywood Handshake.
But how will they fare and who will head straight to the final?
Let’s look at who will be judging them this year…
Paul Hollywood
Of course Paul is back. Could it really be Bake Off without him and the Hollywood Handshake?
Paul is the only judge who has been on the show since its first series. The show moved from the BBC to Channel 4, losing a Mary Berry along the way.
Though it was considered a controversial move, Bake Off 2.0 proved to be more than a flash in the pan in for fans who devoured the new format.
And what Paul might be missing in Mary Berry, he more than makes up for in newfound friends Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig, who recently sang his praises amidst a bit of a troubled time for the silver fox.
Prue Leith
After replacing national treasure Mary Berry, many fans were initially questioning, ‘Prue do you think you are?’, but the 79-year-old proved to be the perfect serving.
Learning to cook at the Cordon Bleu, Prue’s career in cookery has been as wild, varied and layered as the creations the contestants whip up each week.
She opened her own restaurant, Leith’s, which eventually became a Michelin Star-awarded establishment, as well as launching the Leith’s School of Food and Wine.
For her contributions, she was awarded an OBE in 1989, and a CBE in 2010.
She’s been on the show since 2017, and has no intention of going anywhere yet – revealing she plans to match Mary Berry’s seven-year stint.
Let’s hope she stays off Twitter this year though…
Sandi Toksvig
Joining the show with its move to Channel 4, Sandi Toksvig became a fast fan-favourite thanks to her quippy one-liners and quirky dress sense.
A comedienne and TV presenter who has appeared on shows including Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Mock the Week and Have I Got News For You, she had fans eating out of the palm of her hands.
Taking over the presenting reins of a show is nothing new to Sandi – having replaced Stephen Fry as QI Quizmaster in 2016.
Noel Fielding
Not everyone’s immediate thought when thinking of the quaint, quiet charms of baking, Noel Fielding’s offbeat charm fitted in perfectly when he joined in 2017.
Before he was Bake Off’s black sheep, Fielding was most well-known for his role as co-creator and actor in The Mighty Boosh.
His addition to the show makes the quirky Alice in Wonderland photo a logical fit.
The Great British Bake off returns to our screens on Tuesday 27 August on Channel 4.
