While it isn’t as beloved as other entries in the franchise, the PS1 title has gained a die-hard following over the years. It also means all the mainline entries will be available in remastered form.
The remaster was originally announced back in June this year, alongside The Last Remnant Remastered on Nintendo Switch.
You’ll have longer to wait for the full remake of Final Fantasy VII, which launches on 3 March, 2020 on PlayStation 4.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered releases 3 September on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Steam.
