Train Your Baby Like a Dog is set to provide some unique techniques to tackle troubled behaviour in children when it airs on TV this week.
The show has already drawn some controversy ahead of it airing on Channel 4, with some people petitioning for it to be cancelled.
Jo-Rosie Haffenden, who will be appearing in the documentary, appeared on Good Morning Britain today to address the criticism.
The animal trainer said: ‘Unfortunately the community who are writing those sorts of petitions, they’ve had a really troublesome past when it comes to these training techniques.
‘They’ve had a horrific time and some of the techniques that are still used today involve things like restraining children, stopping them from doing things.’
When is Train Your Baby Like a Dog on TV?
Train Your Baby Like a Dog will air at 20.00 on Tuesday 20 August on Channel 4.
The one-off documentary will be an hour long and will follow Jo-Rosie Haffenden as she applies her methods to parenting.
In the show she will use various techniques, including rewarding positive actions instead of punishing bad behaviour.
Jo-Rosie will be seen working with a three-year-old who has violent tantrums, as well as an 18-month-old who doesn’t want to sleep in her own cot.

Jo-Rosie Haffenden in a animal trainer who has worked on TV shows and as a public speaker, and she has also published three books about animal training.
She has a degree in Applied Psychology, and a post graduate degree in Animal Behaviour, and she regularly presents at animal conferences across the world.

When I asked what led to her using the techniques for children, Jo said: ‘I had my baby boy about three years ago, and what I learnt from struggling as parents do to find my way as a parent, I started using the principles I had learned about animal behaviour and applying them to Santino, my boy.
‘It’s rewarding the right thing but it’s more than that. It’s about setting the environment up so the animal is likely to do the thing that’s gonna get them what they want.’
Jo-Rosie’s three books have been DogYoga, Teach My Cat to Do That, and Teach My Dog To Do That.
