While there was little doubt that Jurassic World would be a big hit, the monstrous size of its box office haul has taken even the most cynical observers by surprise.
With an expected opening North American weekend take of between $80 – $100 million dollars, the film took $208 million, breaking Avengers Assemble’s 2012 record and raking in north of $508 million worldwide to break that record too.
Fast forward a week and by the end of Sunday it has taken $398 in the States and $981 worldwide, meaning that by the end of Monday it will have become only the 22nd movie to break the billion dollar barrier.
