Netflix’s new thriller The I-Land looks like it will make you too terrified to go on holiday again.
It starts off inviting viewers to an ‘immersive experience’ set on a beautiful island, along with shots of hot young people relaxing on the beach or raving it up.
The whole thing is in a similar style to the trailer for the now infamous Fyre Festival, which offered a getaway of a life time that went south.
But the ominous voiceover suggests that something off, as a man explains: ‘Can we change a person’s circumstances, and by doing so change a person?’
Those circumstances clearly do change in a big way as everyone on the island is told they are not allowed to leave, and everything quickly descends into chaos.
We’re not shown much but from the disturbing scenes, including one where a woman has all her fingers cut off, a huge fire breaks out and the previously carefree party-goers turn on each other.
The goal is try and try and get off the island before being brutally murdered, probably by someone in a bikini.
Netflix’s description of the seven-episode show reads: ‘Faced with the I-Land’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves — or die as their worst ones.’
Among the cast is Kate Bosworth, Alex Pettyfer and Michelle Veintimilla.
Welcome To The I-Land lands on Netflix on 12 September.
