Could the Yeezy Home dream be over before it’s even begun?
Kanye West’s ambitious housing project near Calabasas, California is currently under construction, but it seems that those living in neighbouring properties aren’t happy with the noise coming from the building work.
The project, which is aiming to help alleviate the homeless and affordable-housing crises in California, is centred around four domed structures made of prefabricated concrete, all of which are currently being built on the rapper’s 300-acre Calabasas estate.
But night-time construction work has been irking neighbours since mid-July, according to TMZ – and complaints and calls to police have since reportedly led to inspectors from the L.A. County Dept. of Public Works visiting the building site on two occasions.
Despite the insistence by Kanye’s building team that the current state of the structures is only ‘temporary’, they have since been deemed ‘permanent’ by inspectors due to their concrete platforms – meaning that they now require specific building permits before construction can resume.
TMZ are reporting that Kanye’s people need to secure these permits by 15 September, or they’ll be forced to tear down the buildings.
Hopefully, they’ll be able to secure the proper permits in time and save Yeezy Home’s first big project from potential destruction.
