Cyberpunk 2077 – no more third person cut scenes

CD Projekt has confirmed a major change to the way Cyberpunk 2077 will work, making it harder to see all your customisation efforts.

Despite early trailers showing third person cut scenes the whole of Cyberpunk 2077 will now be playable only in first person, at least according to the latest info.

The news come via a slightly convoluted route, starting off with a German interview which was translated by fans on the CD Projekt Red forum, who then went on to try and clarify the news via the official Twitter channel.

It wouldn’t be the first time someone on an official channel got something wrong, but so far everything seems to be pointing towards the game being first person only.

The biggest clue is that there are no third person cut scenes in the most recent footage that was released, which was cut down from a longer 40-minute demo we saw at E3 and Gamescom.

We don’t recall seeing any third person sequences during that, although the initial E3 cinematic trailer is almost nothing but.

That means if it’s true this is quite a major change in design for the game, coming at a fairly late stage in the process.

Whether it also includes driving vehicles is unclear though, as they’re not cut scenes but you can see in the most recent trailer that riding a motorbike still starts off in third person.

The reason given for the change, predictably, is immersion, with the Twitter account also apparently confirming that sex scenes are still in the game and will also be first person.

Which is going to be interesting once the mainstream media finds out about it…

But would the person in charge of the Twitter channel really know?
