Cyberpunk 2077 – Keanu Reeves is going to be on Stadia
The latest Stadia Connect has revealed a host of new games coming to Google’s streaming service, including GRID and Elder Scrolls Online.
It’s strange to think that by the end of this year both Microsoft and Google should have their rival game streaming services up and running and yet so far we’ve still heard very little about either.
Microsoft didn’t even mention Project xCloud in their pre-Gamescom Inside Xbox event but while it’s likely to only get as far as public testing in 2019, Stadia is planning to launch properly – at least in terms of the subscription-based version of the service.
This time round Google made it very clear that Stadia is not the Netflix of gaming, but instead a streaming service where you have to buy each game individually.
The version of Stadia without a subscription will come later but at the moment they’re pushing the Founder’s Pack that contains a controller, the means to connect to a TV, and three-month’s subscription.
That’ll set you back £119, but up until now it’s not really been clear what games will be available at or near launch.
But thanks to this latest Stadia Connect we now know that Cyberpunk 2077 will be coming to Stadia ‘soon’ (the release date for the other versions is 16 April, but that wasn’t mentioned).
No additional information was revealed about the game or the Stadia version, and indeed almost all the gameplay clips were from older multiformat trailers – implying that none of the footage was actually running on Stadia.
For the record though the other games mentioned were as follows, plus Baldur’s Gate III which was only glimpsed in passing:
Watch Dogs Legion
Gods And Monsters (Ubisoft’s more fantastical take on Greek myth)
Kine (a weird 3D puzzle game)
Windjammers 2
Destroy All Humans! (the remake, obviously)
Mortal Kombat 11
Superhot
Farm Simulator 19 Platinum Edition
Samurai Shodown
GRID (Codemasters’ new racer)
Attack On Titan 2: Final Battle
The Elder Scrolls Online: Elsweyr (Stadia’s first MMO)
Borderlands 3 (which had technically already been announced)
Doom Eternal (ditto)
All of these games are multiformat and the only one that’s not is Orcs Must Die! 3, which Stadia is keeping all to themselves. The Tower Defense-influenced third person co-op game is hardly one of gaming’s biggest names but at least it’s a start, in addition to previously announced exclusive Gylt by RiME developer Tequila Works.
The rest of the line-up is a mix of major and minor titles, but Cyberpunk, Watch Dogs, and Borderlands 3 are certainly important gains and will help to imply that in the future all major games will come to Stadia.
It’s notable that there was nothing said about Fortnite though, or other free-to-play titles like Apex Legends, so clearly there’s still a lot of work for Google to do.
There’s also the fact that the actual Stadia Connect was pretty boring to sit through, with canned footage from trailers you’ve probably already seen multiple times before.
Google still need to up their game if they’re going to be a serious contender but this was an important, if small, step in that direction.
It’s been over three months since we waved goodbye to Game of Thrones and it seems like the controversial final series is still a point of contention for many fans.
And now, Kit Harington, who played Jon Snow in the series, has admitted that one part of the final series didn’t sit well with him: Arya Stark’s killing of the leader of the White Walkers.
‘I was a bit pissed off, only because I wanted to kill the Night King,’ the 32-year-old actor told The Hollywood Reporter, in a statement that we’re sure many GoT fans would echo.
‘I think I felt like everyone else did, in that it had been set up for a long time, and then I didn’t get to do it,’ he added. ‘I was secretly like, “I wanted to do that!”’
However, the star was keen to clarify that he had no hard feelings about the plot decision.
‘I was so happy for Maisie [Williams] and Arya,’ Kit said.
Arya having fun? (Picture: HBO)‘It was a really great twist, and it tied up Maisie’s journey in a really beautiful way.
‘Over the seasons, we’ve seen her build up these skills to become this hardened assassin, and she uses it all to kill our main antagonist.’
Ever the diplomat, eh Kit?
While the cast of HBO’s x-rated fantasy juggernaut have sung the praises of the show’s final series, their fans have been less kind.
However, the cast have criticised this online campaign and the backlash against the final series, suggesting that the fans were not entitled to just demand the show be remade.
‘What I didn’t like was that people were signing a petition.
‘You can’t ask for receipts on art. You just can’t. The art has been created for you, and you can either choose to like it or not.’

Gang’s all here (Picture: Kelsey Douglas, Instagram)
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones managed to do the impossible and gather their whole family for a lunch date last weekend – and it included four generations of relatives with ages from 102 to as young as 20 months.
The Hollywood couple enjoyed a family lunch in Beverly Hills on Sunday and it was quite the momentous occasion with Michael’s elderly father, iconic actor Kirk Douglas, and children including Dylan and Carys all in attendance.
Michael’s niece Kelsey Douglas shared the incredible photo on Instagram, with the caption: ‘A table of strong jaw lines, large appetites and a shared love for attention #FAMILY (missing a few key players: @tylerdougie @ryandawglas ) – family photos are tough.’
Standing strong as the oldest family member is Spartacus actor Kirk, who is aged 102 and turns 103 in December. The Hollywood actor is joined by his wife Anne, who is 100 years young.
The youngest is baby Lua at 20 months, who is the daughter of Michael’s son Cameron, 40.
Michael, 74, proudly looks on at the camera while flanked by the children he shares with wife Catherine, with Dylan, 19, on one side and Carys, 16, on the other.
Kelsey posted a separate photo of her taking a selfie with Kirk, who wears a snazzy shirt for the occasion.

Katherine Ryan and Bobby Kootstra rekindled their romance after 20 years (Picture: Dave Benett/Getty Images for Moet Hennessy)
Katherine Ryan got more from her past than she bargained for when she filmed an episode of BBC’s Who Do You Think You Are last year.
The Canadian comedian, 36, was back in her hometown filming for the show when she bumped into her ‘first love’ in a bar. Following the chance encounter, Katherine is now loved up and planning a future with her childhood sweetheart.
So who is the Canadian catch who swept the funny mum-of-one off her feet?
Who is Katherine Ryan’s partner?
After making a successful career out of a stand-up show full of witty one-liners about her life as a single woman, Katherine is now happily loved up with Bobby Kootstra.
Talking about the chance encounter on The Jonathan Ross Show, she said: ‘During filming I went for a night out with my sister and bumped into my first love Bobby – we dated for about a year when I was fifteen and then we split.
‘I haven’t seen him in 20 years. I’m in an old jumper, he looked like a full blood Hemsworth brother, just hot…I hadn’t seen him in 20 years.
‘Of course [I recognised him] I’m the one with the whole new face, Jonathan! I really did like him at the time.
‘When we were young, I was deeply in love with him. We were prom king and queen.’

The Witcher 3 on Nintendo Switch has been given an October release date at Gamescom.
During Gamescom Opening Night Live hosted by Geoff Keighley, a new trailer revealed The Witcher 3 will be released on the platform on 15 October.
CD Projekt Red’s massive RPG was announced to be coming to Nintendo Switch at E3 earlier this year, which will include the expansions Hearts Of Stone and Blood & Wine.
While there’s a noticeable dip in the graphical fidelity of the title compared to the PS4 and Xbox One versions, it’s still incredibly impressive it’s running on a Switch console at all.
The boxed version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on Switch will also include a Witcher Universe compendium, game map, and stickers.
This also marks the first CD Projekt Red game on Switch, although you probably shouldn’t expect Cyberpunk 2077 to make the jump.

Sam and Laura have decided to legally separate (Picture: Getty Images)
Peaky Blinders actor Sam Claflin has split from his wife Laura Haddock after six years of marriage, stating they still have ‘deep respect’ for one another.
In an Instagram post on Monday evening, Sam announced the sad news with a statement which explained that their plans to continue co-parenting their two children.
Sharing the news via an Instagram Story, Sam said: ‘Laura and I have decided to legally separate. We will move forward with nothing but love, friendship and a deep respect for one another whilst we continue to raise our family together.
‘We won’t be commenting on this further. Thank you in advance for your support and respecting our privacy at this time. Both of us x.’
Sam and Laura, both 33, began dating in 2011 and married two years later after meeting in an audition room.
In a previous interview, Sam recalled how it was love at first sight when he met Laura, who has appeared in The Inbetweeners, Guardians of the Galaxy and Transformers: The Last Knight.

Sam said: ‘I called my agent, I said, “Mate, I am in love”. He’s like, “How did the audition go, mate?” I was like, “No, no, you don’t understand. I have just met the woman I want to marry”.’
The TV star has also spoken highly of the actress and told Yahoo! in 2012: ‘She’s my female counterpart is the best way to describe her.
‘She is my mum, she reminds me of my mum so much which I think – a guy will know, right? It’s important. Your mum knows like everything.’
The former couple share two children – a son who was born in 2015 and daughter, whom they welcomed just last year.
In June, Laura shared her final post about the actor to celebrate his birthday.
The touching caption read: ‘Happy birthday to this kind, generous, loving, beautiful man.. @mrsamclaflin for all that you do. Happy birthday!’

Marvel’s Spider-Man – Sony liked it so much they bought the company
The creators of Ratchet & Clank and Sunset Overdrive are to be acquired by Sony, ensuring they work only on PlayStation from now on.
After 25 years of courtship, Sony has finally put a ring on Insomniac Games, as they announce plans to acquire the company and make them a first party studio.
You could be forgiven for thinking they already were as most of their big games, like Spyro The Dragon, Ratchet & Clank, Resistance, and Marvel’s Spider-Man have been PlayStation exclusives.
They have made multiformat games though, like the ill-fated Fuse for EA, a number of mobile titles, and Xbox One launch exclusive Sunset Overdrive.
There’s no chance they’ll ever work on that again though and it’s likely that Sony chose now to buy them to keep them out of Microsoft’s (or Stadia’s) clutches and to get them focused on a new Spider-Man game.
A follow-up to Marvel’s Spider-Man hasn’t been announced but given its enormous success it’s always seemed a given – and now more than ever.
No specific reason has been given for the move, with Sony merely praising Insomniac as ‘one of the most highly-acclaimed development studios in the industry’.
‘Joining the WWS [Sony World Wide Studios] family gives Insomniac even greater opportunities to achieve our studio vision of making positive and lasting impressions on people’s lives,’ said Insomniac boss Ted Price.
‘We’ve enjoyed a special relationship with PlayStation practically since our inception. Our partnership amplifies our potential, and Marvel’s Spider-Man was a testament to this. We’re excited to take the next step in our growth alongside our long-time WWS partners. Most of all, we look forward to delivering fresh, new experiences for our fans.’
Humankind – could Civilization have some serious competition?
Endless Space developer Amplitude Studios has unveiled their latest game and it looks to be a direct rival to Sid Meier’s Civilization.
Saying that Sega has announced a new game usually means only one of two things: a new (or remastered) Japanese style arcade game that harkens back to the glory days of the Mega Drive or a PC-only strategy game. Humankind is the latter.
Before you roll your eyes though it’s worth considering that Sega’s track record with strategy games is far better than with anything else they’ve released in the last couple of decades, and Humankind is especially exciting because it’s a brand new IP.
That said, Humankind does bear a remarkable resemblance to Sid Meier’s Civilization, from the look of the game (don’t give up on the trailer, there is some gameplay footage at the end) to the fact that it has you controlling the whole of human history.
Civilization has ruled its particular roost almost unchallenged since it started in 1991, with only a copycats that were quickly forgotten.
Just like Civilization, Humankind starts off in the Neolithic era and carries on right into the modern day (although there’s nothing yet about going beyond that).
What is unique to Humankind though is that you can create your own civilisation by combining 60 real-word cultures from across history, starting off as Ancient Egypt, for example, before incorporating elements of Ancient Rome or the Vikings.
Another major difference is that your culture’s fame is what wins the game, although whether that’s the only win condition remains to be seen.
‘Amplitude Studios was founded with the intention of creating this game, all the games we’ve created up until now have been leading up to this moment. We are so excited to finally be able to share with the community what has been at the heart of Amplitude since day one’, says chief creative officer Romain de Waubert.
We’ve already got an appointment to see the game, and talk to the developer, at Gamescom this week so we’ll report back with more details then. The game’s out next year.
Emma and Tom are friendship goals (Picture: Getty)
Emma Watson and Tom Felton gave Harry Potter fans the best surprise this week, by reuniting to learn the guitar of all things.
It appears Emma, 29, recently flew out to meet Tom, 31, in South Africa where he was hard at work filming a new movie.
Making for a rather sweet moment, the besties are pictured sitting in their pyjamas playing the guitar with Tom giving the actress a one-on-one lesson.
‘Quick learner x,’ he captioned the heartwarming snap.
One excited fan compared their pairing to that of Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in A Star Is Born, while another joked: ‘When do the tix come on sale? [sic].’
An avid Harry Potter fan even created a ship name for Tom and Emma’s Harry Potter characters Hermione and Draco – Dramione – so it would seem that Gryffindor and Slytherin are more than capable of getting along in real life after all.
Despite the students of Hogwarts parting ways on-screen eight years ago, Emma and Tom have maintained a close friendship since.
In November, Emma shared a cool black and white video of her sharing a skateboard with Tom as he wheeled along a beachfront.
The Beauty and the Beast actress jokingly captioned the clip: ‘#TFToleratingmysubparskatingskillssince1999.’
While it’s clear the stars are just good pals right now, Emma previously admitted to having a crush on Tom in their childhood.
During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross show in : ‘Between the ages of 10 and 12, I had a really terrible crush on Tom Felton.
‘We love a bad guy and he was a few years older and he had a skateboard. And that just did it, really. He used to do tricks on it. He was so cool.’

The trio have had quite the glo-up (Picture: @davidwalliams)
They may only have started working together on Britain’s Got Talent back in 2012, but David Walliams showed that he’s been close to Ant and Dec for a long time as he shared an amazing old picture of them together.
The trio will be appearing together on Britain’s Got Talent: The Champions later this month, but the 47-year-old children’s author decided to focus on the past rather than the present as he posted the incredible throwback snap to Twitter.
Wearing school uniforms that hark back to the pair’s PJ and Duncan days, Ant and Dec somehow manage to have not aged a day – seriously, we want their skincare regime.
David, on the other hand, is barely recognisable as he grins between the pair. It might be the teeth that makes the Little Britain comedian look so different, but whether he naturally grew into them or got a dentist’s number from his fellow BGT columnist Simon Cowell, we have to say that David’s glow-up game is strong.
‘An oldie but a goodie,’ he wrote as he tagged Ant and Dec in the picture.
Rising up together as bright young things on the entertainment circuit in the 1990s, Ant, Dec and David’s paths were likely to have crossed many times.
Still friends after all these years (Picture: EMHA/BACKGRID)
However, it wasn’t until David joined the panel for the sixth series of Britain’s Got Talent that they went on to regularly work together.
In a post to his 2.07million followers, the comedian took us all back to the PJ and Duncan days as he shared the boy’s music video for their 1995 hit Perfect.
Writing in the caption, the children’s author quipped: ‘@antanddec with a song they wrote about me. ‘Perfect’. WARNING – CONTAINS NUDITY.’
What are they like…

Death Stranding is bringing the weird (Picture: Kojima Productions)
Death Stranding has received a bunch of new trailers, giving a better glimpse at characters played by Margaret Qualley and Guillermo Del Toro.
During Gamescom Opening Night Live hosted by Geoff Keighley, developer Hideo Kojima debuted three new separate trailers from the game.
The first clip was a cutscene introducing Mama played by actress Margaret Qualley, whose character has a baby on the ‘other side’ preventing her from leaving one location.
Speaking about the clip, Kojima said: ‘There are a lot of characters which appear in Death Stranding and each has a sub-story away from the main story.
‘Mama’s setting is that her baby was born on the other side and not in her world. However they are still connected by the umbilical cord, that’s how they still exist.’
A second clip gave an introduction to Deadman played by Guillermo Del Toro, along with Bridge Baby, who will be a key part of the story.
A gameplay trailer was shown seeing you guide main character Sam, played by Norman Reedus, across the mountainous terrain to a special pod where he was greeted by a hologram played by Geoff Keighley himself, although without his voice.
This hologram was called a ‘prepper’ who are hiding throughout the world and grant you ‘good things’ if you connect with them.
‘I can’t reveal too much but when you start to connect with preppers, you’ll notice you’re connected with the people worldwide,’ Kojima said.
Even more weirdly, the game will utilise motion controls so you can rock the baby carried inside a tube on Sam’s back.
‘You use the PlayStation 4 controller and rock the baby,’ Kojima said. ‘If you shake too fast, the baby will get angry.’
There was also a segment where Sam took a pee causing a giant mushroom to appear, which is an actual mechanic in the game.
Details on how the baby connects to the wider story remained unclear, although the peeing mechanic was described as being a ‘weapon’ at some stage — teasing if players urinate in the same spot ‘something good’ will happen.
Kojima also teased how we should expect even more cameos in the final game, indicating other ‘preppers’ might be famous faces.
Even with this new information, we’re still unsure what to make of Death Stranding — with these new trailers continuing the tradition of raising more questions than answers.
Death Stranding releases on PlayStation 4 on 8 November.
World of Warcraft celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, and to celebrate Blizzard Entertainment will be releasing a new classic version of the game.
The new server option was first announced at BlizzCon 2017 and it has been a long wait for fans who have been there since the game’s initial release in 1994.
World of Warcraft Classic will recreate the game in its original form, before it received it’s first expansion – Burning Crusade.
The new game mode will be open to all levels of players and will offer the chance to relive classic defining moments in the game.
Here is everything that you need to know about how to play it and what to expect.
When is the World of Warcraft Classic release date?
World of Warcraft Classic will be available on PC and Mac from Tuesday 27 August.
The new mode will be available for free to anyone with a World of Warcraft subscription
(Picture: Blizzard Entertainment)
What to expect from World of Warcraft Classic
The launch of WoW Classic will give players the chance to put together a 40-player raid where they can take on Molten Core and try to open the gates of Ahn’Qiraj, while also taking part in the PvP fight between Soutshore and Tarren Mill.
Players will be able to return to Azeroth and experience it as it was during the 1.12.1 patch update.
Content updates will continue to be released over several phases to reflect the game’s original patch release cycle.
Despite being filled with content from the original set-up of the game, it will be supported by a modern infrastructure that will ensure that the gaming experience is smooth and suitable for a modern PC.
Players are already able to put together up three characters ready for the release, which includes being able to reserve a name and choose which realm you want to play on.
The trailer sees clips from the series interspersed with behind-the-scenes commentary from the cast and its revealed a number of things to us.
For one, the show is seriously NSFW. Kaley describes it as being ‘completely out of control’ and she’s got a point.
Think gratuitous violence, sex jokes and more effin’ and jeffin’ than you can possibly imagine.
Do not, we repeat, do not be fooled into sticking this on for children thinking that it’s some innocent kid’s superhero cartoon. You have been warned.
It looks like blondes really do have more fun (Picture: Getty/Youtube)
Secondly, the voice cast is absolutely killer. Seeing A Knight’s Tale’s Alan Tudyk laugh as the Joker gave us full on chills, while Veep’s Tony Hale voices Doctor Psycho, Lake Bell plays Poison Ivy and Breaking Bad’s Giancarlo Esposito plays Lex Luthor. It doesn’t get better than that.
Despite being a classic DC villain, the series will approach things from Harley’s point of view, exploring her complicated relationship with the Joker as she tries to strike out on her own while also showing the more mundane side of superhero life.
Doing it for the girls (Picture: Youtube)
Mixing action with comedy, meta-humour with low brow jokes, there’s something for everyone in this series, which will air on the DC Universe’s new streaming platform.
‘She goes through growth but it’s like a few steps forward and 25 steps back,’ the 33-year-old previously explained. ‘She falls back in her old ways again and can’t really help it.’
However, the audience will definitely be on the side of Daddy’s Little Monster.
‘The nice thing is that most of the time she’s going up against villains who are worse than her, so you root for her in that way,’ Kaley said.
‘She is a killer but those who are dying in her hands deserve it.’
Right on, girl.

The first ever Gamescom Opening Light Live event is now over and it’s been a sometimes bewildering mix of big name blockbusters, unexpected sequels, and obscure indie titles.
Activision also used the event to announce that Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare will be starting its open alpha this weekend, but only for the 2v2 Gunfight mode and only for PlayStation 4.
There were plenty of other unexpected reveals too, such as the return of the obscure early-90s combat flight simulator Comanche, based on a U.S. attack helicopter that never actually went into service.
Other new announcements include indie sequels Kerbal Space Program 2 and Little Nightmares 2, despite the developer having previously instead they wouldn’t make a follow-up to the latter.
Also a complete surprise is PlayStation 4 exclusive Erica, a live action drama by London studio Flavourworks which is out today. It seems to involve the titular woman tracking down a murderer through possibly supernatural means and is the latest PlayLink title that can also be controlled via your phone.
Another game available to play right now – and completely for free – is The Cycle by Spec Ops: The Line developer Yager. It’s a combination of both PvE and PvP shooter, which they’re claiming counts as whole new genre.
What had seemed to be a dead genre was the idea of the 4 vs. 1 online shooter, which went all but extinct with the failure of Evolve.
But IllFonic, makers of Friday The 13th: The Game, are bringing it back with Predator: Hunter Grounds, with Gamescom showcasing the first actual gameplay footage – which basically looks like a recreation of the first movie, but with one player as the Predator and no Arnie or other cast members.
The post-First World War era steampunk setting of Iron Harvest 1920+ also looked interesting, being yet another console and PC based strategy game in a summer that has (much to our delight) been full of them.
Although it had been announced before, by a teaser that gave absolutely nothing away, the first gameplay footage of Disintegration was one of the most interesting reveals of the night.
The game’s by one of the co-creators of Halo and seems to be going back to Combat Evolved’s original real-time strategy origins by incorporating squad-based tactical elements.
Gamescom Opening Night Live was a strange event that had virtually noting to do with Gamescom (for what’s supposed to be the European equivalent of E3 there was barely anyone from this continent featured on stage) and seemed happy to throw announcements and reveals out seemingly at random.
That’s better than having none at all though and ultimately it does help to establish Gamescom as one of the most important dates in the gaming calendar, no matter what is at the show itself over the next couple of days.
Sources now claim Katie, 40, told friends at the weekend that she and the Ray actor had split earlier this year.
According to Page Six, the actress dined at La Esquina with friends on Saturday and allegedly told her gal pals: ‘What Jamie does is his business – we haven’t been together for months’.
The publication also claims to have spoken to Katie’s friend on the phone who allegedly revealed that the couple split in May, a few weeks after their joint appearance at the Met Gala.
E! News also claims to have word from sources that the pair ended their long-term romance in May.
Katie and Jamie walked the red carpet alone at the star-studded event in NYC but then posed for photos together inside the party, marking their first official outing together as a couple.
The pair went public at the Met Gala in May (Picture: Getty Images)
The Hollywood stars began dating in 2013, a year after Katie divorced ex-husband Tom Cruise, who also happened to be Jamie’s co-star in the 2011 movie Collateral.
In the early hours of Saturday morning, Jamie was seen leaving LA’s Bootsy Bellows with Sela after attending Lil Pump’s 19th birthday party.
Jamie seemed protective of Sela in the midst of the paparazzi swarm and held onto her hand at one point as they navigated their way to a waiting car.
In recent years, Katie and Jamie had become slightly more relaxed about showing affection for each other in public and were often seen enjoying cosy dates together, including a romantic day at the beach in California and even spending time as a couple with Jamie’s eldest daughter Corinne Foxx.
Metro.co.uk have contacted Katie and Jamie’s reps for comment.

Vikings season 6 is yet to hit our screens but Katheryn Winnick and Clive Standen aren’t waiting to reunite with each other.
The besties, who play Lagertha and Rollo respectively, attended the wedding of mutual friends Tracey Brennan and Trent Broin at the weekend and gave us the reunion we’ve needed to help us bide time until the hit Amazon Prime series makes it grand return.
Alongside two adorable selfies, Katheryn said: ‘Reunited with my Vikings family,’ to which Clive replied with love heart emojis.
As if that wasn’t touching enough, Clive added in his own post: ‘This one’s always had my back!’
Their co-star Georgia Hirst, who plays Torvi, just couldn’t help but chime in on the lovefest and commented under Katheryn’s post: ‘Damn you’re so hot.’
Jokingly accepting the compliment for himself, Clive quipped back: ‘Thanks… Katheryn looks pretty good too though.’
Aside from meeting up with her bestie, Katheryn had a lovely day watching her friends tie the knot and shared photos of the ceremony in her Instagram Stories with the caption: ‘So blessed I got to witness these two powerful souls make it official.’
Creator and executive producer Michael Hirst told Nerdist earlier this year: ‘The vikings are going ever outwards as raiders and traders.
‘I’m writing season six now and they’re in the Silk Road. They’re trading with the Russians, going to China, they’re all around the Mediterranean. And it’s actually what happened.’
Speculation is rife that King Harald could be killed off after researching what happened to his real-life counterpart, while Lagertha is set to become a grandmother – although it’s possible she’ll also perish this upcoming season thanks to recent set photos of a burning pyre.
Bracing ourselves for the action.
Vikings season 6 premieres on Amazon Prime in autumn 2019.

Introducing Sky One’s breakthrough comedy, Brassic, which is set to be your next obsession. You’re welcome. (Picture: Sky One)
If you were waiting for a witty and unpredictable comedy to add to your watchlist this summer, then Brassic is the one.
The six-part Sky original follows lovable rogue Vinnie (Joseph Gilgun) and his five mates – all top boys but total barefaced criminals – who have been hustling in working-class Hawley since their teens.
From an incompetent heist in a pet shop to an accidental kidnapping and a police car chase on country lanes, it becomes pretty obvious that Vinnie and the gang – Dylan, Cardi, Ash, Tommo and JJ – are not exactly criminal masterminds.
And as they approach 30, the cold hard reality is that their hilarious hair-brained schemes are fast catching up with them.
The series stars Our Girl’s Michelle Keegan and Ripper Street’s Damien Molony – as well as an unexpected cameo from Dominic West – so it already has our attention.
And if you needed more reasons to stream, here’s why this vibrant, bold and groundbreaking new Sky original is bound to be your next binge-watch…
Starring Michelle Keegan and Damien Molony as boyfriend and girlfriend Dylan and Erin, this comedy benefits from an impressive cast of actors (Picture: Sky One)
Brassic is 2019’s answer to Shameless and This Is England with tons of swagger but also has plenty of heart (Picture: Sky One)
It’s the Shameless vs. This Is England crossover we never knew we needed
Co-created by and starring Joseph Gilgun, who memorably played Woody in gritty British drama This Is England, Brassic was a passion-project between the Misfits actor and the Bafta-winning screenwriter behind Shameless, Danny Brocklehurst.
In Brassic, they combine dark comedy with true grit and plenty of northern swagger. Unlike anti-hero Frank Gallagher, it’s easy to fall for likely lad Vinnie, as he worries about going bald and losing his best mate Dylan (Damien Molony) to a life beyond their home town. And thanks to a tough upbringing, Vinnie’s fist-fighting, car-stealing, champion kebab-eating mates are more like family than friends.
The six-part series centres on a group of lads who can’t seem to shake off their wayward ways as they approach their 30s (Picture: Sky One)
These lads aren’t exactly criminal masterminds and their hairbrained schemes are starting to catch up with them (Picture: Sky One)
This is comedy gold – with a heart of gold
Featuring a heist with live geese, a hunt for a Shetland Pony and scenes filmed inside an actual sex dungeon in Manchester, you can expect to laugh out loud at binge-worthy Brassic.
Much of this side-splittingly funny, heart-warming – and sometimes outright outrageous – show centres on the harsh reality of approaching your 30s when your friendship group is still stuck in its teens; a bitter pill to swallow for some of us, but you’ll definitely see the funny side.
Led by likely lad Vinnie (centre), the childhood mates might finally be at a crossroads (Picture: Sky One)
There are some side-splittingly funny scenes involving all sorts of scamming, conning and robbing along the way (Picture: Sky One)
… But it’s got a serious side
While Brassic is a comedy at its core, the edgy Sky original also takes a deep dive into mental health. Creator Joseph bravely decided to reflect on his bipolar disorder in on-screen alter-ego Vinnie, which gives the show some important layers.
Speaking to Metro.co.uk last month, Brassic star Damien – who plays Vinnie’s best mate Dylan – revealed: ‘A lot of the show is navigating Vinnie’s journey with bipolar disorder and how his best mates deal with that and help him.
‘Before we started filming, I didn’t have a defined understanding of bipolar disorder, but being around Joseph and just talking about it made it easier for everyone else to be honest about their own mental health.’
Actor Joseph has also said: ‘Bipolar is a big part of my life. We want to show that you can have mental health issues and in some cases live a productive, exciting life, full of adventure.’
It’s Michelle Keegan, back at her feisty best
Giving us all of the attitude of Tina McIntyre, former Coronation Street star Michelle Keegan has put her gold hoop earrings back in and scraped her ponytails up high to revive her feisty side in Brassic.
A long way from Our Girl medic Georgie Lane, Michelle’s character Erin is a reformed wild child and single mum whose big dreams of leaving Hawley keep getting stunted by her boyfriend Dylan and his no-hoper best mate, Vinnie.
She’s had it just about up to here with their wayward criminal antics, so she’s got exactly the kind of take-no-prisoners energy it could take to sort out this boys’ club, once and for all.
Brassic is available to stream in full from Thursday 22 August on Sky One

Great British Bake Off season is upon us again, with a new group of amateur bakers nervously waiting to take to the tent in hope of being named Star Baker.
Prue Leith, Paul Hollywood, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig are all returning for another round of the Channel 4 show, which is set to kick off on Tuesday 27 August at 8pm.
Who will follow in the footsteps of Rahul and emerge victorious in 2019? Here are the contestants hoping to do just that:
Dan
Dan’s entry into baking had a romantic start (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 32
Job: Support worker
Dan got into baking in the classic way – trying to impress the girl he fancied. 11 years later, his then girlfriend is now his wife and he’s still baking. He made his own wedding cake and loves decoration, as well as his three dogs.
What is your favourite memory from your first week on the show?
The first time I saw the white peaks of the tent it gave me butterflies, but also you feel so excited at the same time.
You are asked to make a cake that signifies one of the happiest days of your life. What would it be?
We got married in a lovely old church not too far from where we live. So I would have the main cake as a sponge but it would have champagne in it, and strawberries and cream in layers. I would do fondant icing and then detail the timbers and the door, with colour and spray.
Phil
Phil bakes four or five times a week (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 56
Job: HGV Driver
Coming to baking through home economics classes at school, Phil now now bakes four or five times a week, frequently making focaccia, granary bread and brioche, as well as pastry. Driving since he was 17, he lives in Rainham, with his wife and two daughters, and is a big motorbike enthusiast.
What is your favourite memory from your first week on the show?
My memory of the first week is being minibussed into the site and seeing the tent, those wonderful white peaks and thinking that this is happening, it’s not just a dream. I have yearned for this for years, it’s amazing.
Which previous baker would you most want to be stuck in a lift with?
Jon from the last series – we could chat motorbikes till we get freed by the firemen.
Alice
Alice prides herself on her pavlova (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 28
Job: Geography teacher
Essex native Alice was always a keen sports player growing up, but tried her hand at baking while recovering from a back operation for scoliosis aged 15. This jet setter learned to make the perfect pavlova while living in New Zealand and now loves creating intricate and delicate decorations that have that real ‘wow’ factor!
You are asked to make a cake that signifies one of the happiest days of your life. What would it be?
‘I think I would make a cake that resembled a mobile phone, as that was a happy moment when I got the call that I was going to be in Bake Off.’
What does it feel like to have made it into the tent?
‘I have wanted to be in Bake Off ever since the show has started, but I wasn’t really good enough when I was 18. To be accepted into the tent gave me the confidence to feel that I could bake. It was a dream come true!’
Michael
Baking is in Michael’s family (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 26
Job: Theatre Manager/Fitness Instructor
He may have been born in Newcastle, but 26-year-old Michael is a Scot at heart, having lived in the south east of the country since he was a wee lad of seven. Learning to bake from the handwritten recipes passed down through his family, Michael’s specialties are cakes and pastry, while he likes to take flavour inspo from his Indian heritage.
Who will be the most surprised to find out that you’ve made it to Bake Off?
‘My grandma is very chatty usually but she will be totally speechless. She’ll have to have a sit down in a quiet room and have a cup of tea.’
Which previous baker would you most want to be stuck in a lift with?
‘It would have to be Selasi. I would be freaking out and think the world was over but he would be relaxed and just chilled and then I would be too!’
Helena
Helena’s bakes are likely to be infused with various cultures (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 40
Job: Online Project Manager
40-year-old Helena likes to bring cultures together in her baking. Whether it’s Spanish flavours like almond and paprika to signify her childhood in Spanish speaking Ceuta and Lanzarote, or the American tastes of pumpkin, maple and pecans picked up on a school exchange with a Las Vegas Mormon family, the Leeds-based mother-of-one promises to mix things up in the tent.
Which previous baker would you most want to be stuck in a lift with?
‘Kim-Joy from the last series, as I liked her particular style and I think like me she has a niche look. Her bakes are Japanese and cutesy whereas I am witchy and gothic with a Halloween twist.’
You are asked to make a cake that signifies one of the happiest days of your life. What would it be?
‘I would do a three-tier cake representing all the bakers, with multi-coloured icing to represent everyone. We are all so different yet we share such a passion.’
Rosie
We trust Rosie can handle Paul’s snarky comments (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 28
Job: Veterinary Surgeon
A former Cambridge student turned veterinary surgeon, Rosie certainly has the brains needed to quip back a good response for Paul’s snarky comments. Based in the Somerset countryside surrounded by animals, her rural surroundings are her inspiration, whether it be freshly laid eggs or fruit from local orchards.
What is your favourite memory from your first week on the show?
‘When we first got here I went to the bathroom and I could see the little top bits of the tent from the window. That made me very happy.’
Who will be the most surprised to find out that you’ve made it to Bake Off?
‘The nurses at work are going to be so surprised. I’d applied before and they asked me the other day if I would apply again and I could honestly, “No, I don’t think I will!”’
Henry
Henry’s culinary skills have made him a hit with his housemates (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 20
Job: Student
He may only be 20, but Durham University student Henry is very popular among his housemates thanks to his expert culinary skills. Starting baking after the Bake Off tent pitched up in his local park when he was just 12, the show has been his end goal and eight years later, he’s gone full circle and made it.
What does it feel like to have made it into the Tent?
‘I have wanted to get into the tent since series 2. They used to film the show at the end of my road, and I’d see Paul Hollywood when I walked to school in the mornings, so to be inside the actual tent was totally wonderful.’
You are asked to make a cake that signifies one of the happiest days of your life. What would it be?
‘One of the most lovely days I had was at Uni this year, we had an end of year party where everyone was totally relaxed. It would be quite a busy chaotic cake flavoured with alcohol to represent the party, maybe with a kahlua coffee drizzle and vodka buttercream icing.’
Priya
Priya uses baking to relax (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 34
Job: Marketing Consultant
A freelance marketing consultant and self-confessed baking perfectionist, Priya lives in Leicester with her husband and two children, and is writing her first novel. Baking allows her to relax, where she loves tropical, fruity flavours and has recently started experimenting with vegan baking.
You are asked to make a cake that signifies one of the happiest days of your life. What would it be?
‘Every night we read a story together with my two boys, so I’d make a picture book decorated with dragons, dinosaurs, fairies and magic. Lots of fondant icing, as that is what my kids love, and a chocolate sponge, as they love that too.’
Which previous baker would you most want to be stuck in a lift with?
‘Nadiya – I am so inspired and in awe of her, she is so accomplished. She’s just a girl next door, someone you could easily have a good conversation with.’
David
If David’s baking is as snazzy as his wardrobe then we’re sold (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 36
Job: International Health Adviser
Brought up in a baking-only Yorkshire household, 36-year-old David’s work as a health advisor takes him all over the world, learning to build an oven out of an oil drum and make a cake that could steam cook over a village fire in Malawi. A self-proclaimed bread specialist, he might have been the only person to do well on last year’s stone-baked naan bread challenge!
What is your favourite memory from your first week on the show?
‘You feel like royalty walking into the tent, you have a runner looking after you, bringing you drinks. It’s very different to ordinary life, and a fantastic experience.’
You are asked to make a cake that signifies one of the happiest days of your life. What would it be?
‘It would have to be the first date I went on with my partner. We met for a cup of coffee, so I would make a coffee cake as I love that, shaped like a large cappuccino, and make sugar cubes on the side out of marzipan.’
Amelia
Amelia’s love of baking comes from her grandmother (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 24
Job: Fashion designer
Sportswear designer Amelia has been baking for 19 years after watching her mum and grandma creating beautiful cake decorations inspired her to start baking as a child. Her best bake? A snow leopard cake with intricately designed tiger and snow-leopard faces that she made for her nephew’s fifth birthday.
Who will be the most surprised to find out that you’ve made it to Bake Off?

Michelle
Michelle bakes almost daily (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 35
Job: Print Shop Administrator
Born on a farm and now growing up in the seaside town of Tenby with her hsuband and teenage son, Michelle prides herself on baking almost every other day. Whether she’s making a simple loaf to have for breakfast or something sweet to eat for dessert, she likes to use freshly grown seasonal and local produce the best.
What does it feel like to have made it into the tent?
‘I was so emotional when I found out, I cry when I am happy and cry when I am sad. I have wanted it for so long, so I couldn’t believe it.’
You are asked to make a cake that signifies one of the happiest days of your life. What would it be?
‘We christened our son on the same day we got married, so rather than a wedding cake we had a cheese stack made of six tiers of Welsh cheese. So I would probably remake that as a cake, with chocolate cake and carrot cake baked to look like stilton and camembert.’
Jamie
Jamie admits he was ‘nervous’ to get started on GBBO (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 20
Job: Part-time waiter
An identical twin, Jamie was taught to bake by his grandparents before an episode of Bake Off inspired him to try out a plaited loaf. Currently working as a waiter before he goes off to study Sports Science at uni, this Surrey lad has a fairly traditional approach to his flavours – although he does like to experiment with what he can find around the house.
What is your favourite memory from your first week on the show?
‘I was quite nervous at the beginning but by the second day the bakers had all gelled and we were all pretty much best mates. It was great.’
Who will be the most surprised to find out that you’ve made it to Bake Off?
‘None of mates even know that I bake, so they will be shocked just to see me in an apron!’
Steph
Steph says she’s ‘still learning’ the baking game (Picture: Channel 4)
Age: 28
Job: Shop Assistant
Primarily self-taught, 28-year-old Steph considers herself an ‘intermediate, still-learning’ baker. Inspire by her passion for sport and wellness, she enjoys making her bakes healthier, adding vegetables or fruits, lowering the refined sugar content and creating better versions of her fave supermarket biscuits.
Which previous Baker would you most want to be stuck in a lift with?
‘Ruby Tandoh, because she was great when she was on the show, I think she is a really interesting character and I would love to meet her.’
What does it feel like to have made it into the Tent?
‘It’s a bit like a lottery, I didn’t think that I would get in but just wanted to give it a go. It’s just beyond anything that I can imagine, because I didn’t really dream that I would get in, it has been the most incredible surreal experience.’

This took a really long time to film, guys (Picture: HBO)
You’d think the final scene with Kit Harington and Emilia Clarke on Game Of Thrones would be bish bash bosh done, right?
Well, no, actually – that final harrowing moment in which Jon Snow kills Daenerys Targaryen took a mammoth three weeks to film.
And it’s only a page and a half of copy, we should add.
Kit, who plays Jon in the HBO epic, opened up on the final shoot alongside Emilia, who plays the Khaleesi, admitting the whole thing was terribly exhausting.
The ending to the fantasy drama after eight seasons concluded with Jon killing his lover/aunt Dany after she sort of went mad with power and destroyed King’s Landing with her dragon.
He is adamant the ending was exactly what the show was about, but boy was it draining.
‘We felt a sense of responsibility over it. We shot the hell out of it. It was essentially a page and a half of dialogue, and we spent three weeks filming it. They wanted to shoot every conceivable angle, every way, to make sure they got it the way they wanted it,’ he told the Hollywood Reporter this week.
‘When you’re shooting the same scene for two weeks and it’s a page and a half, it becomes a long exercise in concentration. You have to remember the energy you’re bringing in, every day, and making sure it’s consistent.
‘With a highly emotionally charged scene like that, it’s quite a lot, for everyone – the crew, me, and Emilia. It was tiring. It’s one of the hardest things we filmed.’
While the script might have been building up to that moment, as Jon and Dany became increasingly separated in their views of how to deal with Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and the people of King’s Landing, the moment he realised he’d stab her still came as a shock to Kit.
We’re still not over this (Picture: HBO)
‘I was completely surprised by it even though you can kind of see the path through the season of how it was getting there – and even the previous couple of seasons before that, once you can look back,’ he continued. ‘But it was still a big shock to me.’
Speaking about the crux of the show, be believed it all came down to being a tale about a bunch of dysfunctional families.
You know, throw in some magical beasts, dragons and Direwolves and what not, and a whole heap of bloodshed.
He said: ‘It was said a long time ago, and I agree with it, that Thrones really is about dysfunctional families. It’s about mothers, brothers and sisters, but it’s also about how far your blood will stretch in your decision-making.
‘That’s the ultimate choice Jon is left with. He’s faced with someone he loves as his lover – who he is related to – but his loyalty is with the people and the part of the world where his roots are, the people who raised him.
‘It’s that horrible conflict in a relationship: “Do I stay or do I go?” We’ve all been through it at some point … except this one involves a knife.’
Yep.

Ed Sheeran is now a worldwide success but he failed college (Picture: Getty)
Ed Sheeran has sold more than 150 million records worldwide but it turns out, the 28-year-old actually failed music at college.
Let this be a lesson to everyone…
A letter sent to the Shape Of You singer/songwriter in 2010 confirmed he had received six F grades in all segments, including songcraft, of his higher diploma in Contemporary Music Performance course at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford, Surrey.
The letter is now on display at a new exhibition, Ed Sheeran Made In Suffolk, at Christchurch Mansion in Ipswich.
Ed attended the college in 2009 but quit in 2010, hence his fail marks, to concentrate on his music career.
There is a 2004 school report in the exhibition which describes him as a ‘natural performer’.
It reads: ‘Obviously at the moment his voice is beginning to change although he still has quite a lot in his higher register.’
Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift have been pals for years (Picture: WireImage)
Ed’s father John curated the exhibition, and in the programme his dad says his son had become ‘disillusioned’ with the course just three weeks in, and claims his tutors had ‘refused’ Ed permission to go on tour with Just Jack.
After quitting the course, Ed did tour with the Starz In Their Eyes hitmaker, and promotional material from his first major support slot is on display at the exhibit, along with a number of old photos, props from his music videos, and paintings of the hitmaker.
Ed Sheeran exhibition opens on 20 August (Picture: Geoff Robinson)
For the first time ever, fans will get a glimpse of previously unseen photos of Ed, as a range of photos and sculptures on display depict the singer over the years.
This includes childhood pictures and drawings, sculptures, and still images from Ed’s music videos.
In particular, one image taken from the singer’s music video for the singer shows off his heavily tattooed torso – and when you compare this to a childhood snap of Ed as a toddler, it is a complete transformation.
