A writer on The Simpsons has revealed that his proudest moment working on the show involves a gag about Mr Burns’ phone number.

Josh Weinstein – who wrote and was a showrunner on the iconic cartoon until its eighth season – revealed a little Easter egg about everyone’s favourite megalomaniac billionaire.

Taking to Twitter, Weinstein shared the story behind a blink-and-miss reference hidden in the episode Homer the Smithers, which first aired in 1996.

And it turns out, it’s all to do with how the villain answers the phone, picking up the receiver and saying ‘Ahoy-hoy!’

The fan account Daily Simpsons History pointed out that this phrase was considered by Alexander Graham Bell (who, lest we forget, invented the telephone) to be the best way to answer a call.

‘This is it!’ Weinstein said. ‘The thing I’m most proud of. [Writing partner] Bill Oakley and I were obsessed with this little known fact and thought it was perfect for Mr Burns.

‘Bell preferred “Ahoy-hoy” while his arch-enemy Thomas Edison preferred “Hello.” Edison won but we tried to even the score.’

Of course, this also handily adds to the theory that Burns is basically immortal in the show – we bet he got this little greeting from Graham Bell itself.

And if you thought that little fact was exciting, just wait until you see what the bosses over at the show have got coming up for you.

They’ve revealed that a sequel to The Simpsons Movie is coming – although it’s still in the ‘very early stages’ of planning.

Let’s hope they bring back breakout star Spider-Pig.

Meanwhile, it’s a frustrating time for UK fans how the show – as the cartoon won’t be part of the Disney+ slate when the streaming service launches over here 24 March.

Despite being one of the biggest draws for audiences to Disney’s Netflix rival in the States, the show hasn’t been featured on any marketing material or including in any lists of content UK viewers can look forward too when Disney+ finally arrives next month.

Chris Martin portrayed a bullied school kid in the new Coldplay music video for Champion Of The World.

The star had us in our feelings as he got picked on by his fellow peers and yelled at by his parents.

Yes, they shrunk his body down when he was in the same room as his parents to make him child-sized.

In the video, the 42-year-old vocalist finds escape from his real life in music and an interest in outer space.

He begins playing his music to an empty talent show, before riding his bike back home and dreaming of bigger things, such as playing music on different planets.

French director Cloé Bailly, who made the video in Los Angeles, said in a statement that the ‘video is about this magic power that kids have to switch off from reality and jump into their own world.’

The singer revealed that Champion Of The World was inspired by Scott Hutchinson’s song Los Angeles, Be Kind.

‘When I first heard [Los Angeles, Be Kind], I thought it was going to go one way, but it went another,’ the said in a statement, Rolling Stone reported in November.

In case you’re wondering why there are flying cars and random out of space sequences, it all coincides with the lyrics of the song.

Lyrics include: ‘So I’m flying on my bicycle/ Heading upwards from the Earth/ I am jumping with no parachute/ Out into the universe/ I have E.T. on my bicycle.

‘Because giving up won’t work/ Now I’m riding on my rocketship/ And I’m champion of the world.’

Champion Of The World comes 10 days after the release of the Cry, Cry, Cry music video, which was directed by Chris’s girlfriend Dakota Johnson.

The Fifty Shades actress, 30, made her directorial debut with the video, the ballad Coldplay released on Valentine’s Day.

Dakota gave the vid a nostalgic feel, setting it in an old school dance hall in London in the ’50s.

Chris dressed up in a classic suit with a floral boutonniere as he joined his equally dapper Coldplay bandmates on the stage in front of a packed crowd.

The video goes through the years of a young couple until it reaches them in their old age dancing in the same room.

Mira Sorvino has spoken of her immense relief at Harvey Weinstein’s rape and sexual assault conviction, stating she hopes he ‘rots’ in jail. 

Weinstein, 67, was found guilty of two counts – performing a criminal sex act in the first degree and rape in the third degree of two women. 

The former high-flying Hollywood producer is awaiting sentencing but his victims and accusers have rallied together to celebrate the outcome.

Mira, 52, previously accused Weinstein of harassing her in a hotel room back in 1995. 

Reacting to the conviction at a Silence Breakers press conference this week, Mira said: ‘Learning of Harvey Weinstein’s conviction as a rapist has left me with so many emotions. 

‘But one thing is certain: The era of impunity for powerful men who rape people is over. We did this together. We told the truth.’ 

Mira went on to praise the various figures who have been particularly outspoken against Weinstein since he was first accused of sexual misconduct in October 2017, sparking the #MeToo movement. These include Ronan Farrow, #MeToo founder Tarana Burke and several journalists. 

‘No one who hasn’t been through what we have and then spoken publicly can understand how it has felt to have one of the worst memories of one’s life be up for public debate, ridicule, and sympathy,’ Mira explained. 

The Mighty Aphrodite actress explained: ‘However, for each individual act of soul-searching and a decision to speak truth, there was a ripple effect that we could not have foreseen, and we are all connected with an unbreakable thread up to this moment of conviction today.

‘Though disappointed that the jury could not reach a guilty verdict on predatory sexual assault, I have a great deal of gratitude to them and the prosecution and the state of New York.’ 

Weinstein faced five counts of sexual assault-related charges during the lengthy New York City trial but was only found guilty on two of them. 

Slamming his legal team, Mira said: ‘[They] prevailed in putting a monster behind bars. They shattered the myth that a rape victim has to fit a one-size-fits-all profile, despite the best efforts of his legal team and well funded PR team to victim-shame.’ 

During the trial, Weinstein’s lawyers were warned by the judge to ‘leave witnesses alone’ and to refrain from talking about them in public. 

Mira continued in her address: ‘Harvey Weinstein has haunted many of our lives, even our nightmares, long after he initially did what to each one of us. 

‘We have finally taken that power back, and exposed his evil and that of others like him for its true ugliness.’ 

She added: ‘He will rot in jail as he deserves, and we begin to have some closure.’ 

Shortly after his conviction, Weinstein was taken to hospital after suffering chest pains but he is expected to be transported to a jail – reported to be New York’s Rikers Island – in due course.

He is due to appear in court on 11 March for sentencing.

Netflix’s Gentefied and Daybreak writer Camila María has sadly passed away at the age of 28.

The trans Latina activist is said to have died by suicide earlier this week, with her representative confirming the tragic news to Variety.

Sharing a statement with the publication, the Gentefied team said: ‘We are heartbroken by the loss of Camila Concepción.

‘She was hired as our writers’ assistant on Gentefied, but quickly made her way into our hearts as a sister, writer, and friend.

‘She co-wrote episode 109 Protest Tacos, and we were so blown away by her amazing talent and unique voice.’

They added: ‘She was definitely a force to be reckoned with and we are deeply saddened by the loss of one of our brightest stars.’

The streaming giant also released powerful words, where they described the star as a ‘talented writer with a passion for storytelling.’

‘We are deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of Camila Concepción,’ they started their statement.

‘She made bold and critical contributions to our industry, most recently through her incredible writing on Gentefied, and her legacy will live on through her work. Our thoughts are with her family and friends in this time of loss.’

Tributes have since poured in for the writer, with her Gentefied co-creater Marvin Lemus sharing a tribute on his Instagram.

He wrote: ‘I’ve been trying to avoid writing this post all day. Late last night the Gentefied family learned that we lost one of the brightest souls, not only on this show, but that I’ve ever met in my life.

Love Is Blind has served up a bunch of amazing and WTF moments since it launched on Netflix three weeks ago, but none of them seemed to shock as much as the time Jessica Batten allowed her dog to drink wine straight out of her glass… then continued drinking it.

The 34-year-old, who let’s face it, has absolutely made the show this series, was seen talking to fiancé Mark Cuevas about their future together and if they could last – only to stop to allow labrador Payton to drink her wine.

She then proceeded to keep drinking it herself – and the moment went viral, with Jessica admitting that even she wasn’t quite sure why she allowed it.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the star said: ‘I definitely have never done that before; I won’t do that again.

‘I love my dog more than anything and that was not something I would ever recommend anyone to do. I think I was just really uncomfortable. I don’t even remember doing it.

‘I don’t know why I did that but it was definitely unnecessary for sure.’

Jessica, whose boozy moments made for some eye-opening and cringeworthy moments the bonkers TV series delivered over the course of the nine episodes, also said that she wasn’t entirely happy with her antics.

‘I think there’s a reason that there’s sometimes alcohol around during these reality shows,’ she added. ‘Sometimes you loosen up and these moments can kind of come out.

‘I really wish that I would have been better about the drinking for me. I was really uncomfortable and so I had a few moments where I overdrank.’

The finale episode is now up on Netflix, and reveals whether Jessica and Mark make it down the aisle after a whirlwind four weeks together that started with them getting engaged before even meeting.

Since then, the will-they-won’t-they series has become a hit across the world – not least due to Jessica, who made no secret she was still a little hooked on another suitor, Matt Barnett.

With Barnett getting engaged to Amber Pike instead of Jessica, it made for some uncomfortable viewing as she continued to stake her claim – causing a confrontation at their bachelorette.

Dawn O’Porter has called out stars for sharing their last texts with Caroline Flack, calling it a ‘betrayal’ of the former Love Island host.

The 41-year-old was close friends with Caroline, who took her own life at the age of 40 on 15 February.

And following the spate of celebrities posting their final messages to Caroline before her death, Dawn has spoken out.

The writer tweeted: ‘Can we all just agree that posting Caroline’s personal texts is a massive betrayal?

‘Please consider that if for some reason you are thinking of doing it. She’d absolutely hate it.’

Many agreed with Dawn, with writer Matt Haig posting: ‘Should be a given. But some people clearly have no moral compass.’

Another reply read: ‘It’s very sad. It’s like a competition over who was closer to her, when those that are actually closest to someone, just wouldn’t do that.’

Last week, Piers Morgan shared DMs from Caroline in which she said she was ‘struggling’ with the ‘hate’ aimed at her by Jameela Jamil on social media, with the Good Morning Britain host tweeting: ‘Jameela Jamil is having a lot to say about online harassment, so in the interests of balance, here is a message Caroline Flack sent me last October after the same Jameela Jamil led an online pile-on against her regarding a new TV show she was doing.’

He also shared messages in which he advised Caroline to ‘keep her head down’.

And yesterday, Caroline’s ex-boyfriend Danny Cipriani posted some of his final WhatsApp messages with the presenter, in which she discussed her upcoming trial for assault and nicknamed the rugby star ‘Black Dot’.

Danny wrote on Instagram: ‘This story is about the beauty she found in a situation i found uncomfortable. “I’m just talking to black dot” she would say. She was kind beyond belief. And she would think i am crazy doing all this. But i know she would be proud.’

The 32-year-old previously said he would share the voice note she left him a week before his death ‘because people need to hear it’.

Following Caroline’s death, Dawn said that she was ‘broken’.

The mother-of-two, who is married to actor Chris O’Dowd, wrote on Instagram: ‘Her laugh was my favorite laugh. We had so much fun. Honestly, we laughed until we wet ourselves. All the time. She was so funny, and so silly, and there were brilliant, brilliant times.

‘Her life had so much happiness in it. We went to so many festivals, and we sang at pianos and we danced at parties and we rolled around with tears of joy. And we knew how lucky we were, and we said it out loud. The best of times. Some of the most fun days of my life and hers too, I’m sure.

‘I’ll miss her laugh every day forever, and I’ll never believe this is real. I love you Caroline and I’ll always sing songs for you. No dance floor will ever be the same again.’

An inquest last week heard that Caroline took her own life, with her twin sister Jody identifying her body.

The inquest will resume in August.

Jennifer Lopez and Shakira’s halftime show at the Super Bowl had some people up in arms, with the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) receiving 1312 complaints.

The pair slayed their performance at the show, treating us to all their best hits and fire choreography. However, not everyone was impressed.

One unhappy viewer described the show as ‘beyond inappropriate’ and ‘incredibly offensive,’ according to TMZ. Another reportedly compared the performance to porn.

However, with the show racking up more than 135 million views on YouTube, it seems a lot of us were living for it.

The duo took to the stage in Miami for the epic performance, which saw them incorporating their Latina roots.

A string of Shakira’s hits was followed by JLo’s greatest bangers, before they came together for a rendition of Gloria Estefan’s Let’s Get Loud.

Ahead of the finale number, the pair were joined on stage by a young children’s choir – led by Jen’s 11-year-old daughter, Emme.

Emme stole the show as she belted out the song, with Jen later revealing that her daughter has been singing all her life.

With some fans taking to social media after the performance to moan about the show being ‘too sexy’, others pointed out that Adam Levine of Maroon 5 didn’t face nearly as much scrutiny for his topless performance last year.

And it’s clear that the performance took ages to perfect, with one of JLo’s dancers recently opening up to Metro.co.uk.

Michael Metuakore, who has been dancing with Jen for years, told us: ‘We spent hours on that routine. And before we left for the Christmas break, we had already done most of the show. So when we came back in January, it was kind of like refining everything and making it perfect and clean and making minor changes.

‘But since day one, right up until the show, we were cleaning, we were running it. That number was very hard to clean.’

He went on to say of the pair: ‘From what I could see, because we were always kind of around the rehearsal process, they both work very hard. They both have the same intentions. They’re very strong Latina women and it was great to be a part of.’

Khloe Kardashian is no stranger to sponsored content but her new partnership with Febreze had fans reeling in amazement.

The star took to Instagram to share a series of paid partnership snaps of herself advertising some bedazzled Febreze bottles and we’re just as confused as you are.

One picture had her posing pantless in her bed while surrounded by endless deodorisers and fabric sprays.

One fan joked: ‘I tend to use the washing machine. It’s more hygienic.’

Some fans were more concerned about the impact Febreze sprays have on the human body and the environment.

One concerned person wrote: ‘toxic filled chemical spray thats causing all types of health issues fit humans. Are you proud promoting such toxic spray.

‘Do your research before you use these products!!! They are harmful to you and your children!’

‘Those are so full of toxins and chemicals and absorb into your body. Please do your research. And that fragrance is the worst part,’ another added.

According to EZBreathe, Febreze contains ingredients that are irritating to the eyes, lungs, and skin.

Some ingredients are even toxic to the immune system, reproductive system and general development.

Khloe has yet to respond to the backlash (and the jokes) but this has been one of her stranger endorsements.

Kylie Jenner’s daughter Stormi clearly really loves her hoop earrings as she’s been pictured wearing them for a second time despite recent backlash over the jewellery.

Young Stormi took part in a photoshoot for her mum Kylie’s latest Instagram post, which sees the toddler pulling the most adorable faces on steps outside their Hidden Hills mansion in California.

Although she’s dressed casually in a tracksuit, it was hard not to notice the bling to Stormi’s outfit as she carried a bejewelled handbag, played with a mobile phone and wore a pair of square-shape hooped earrings.

‘Stormi has the best style period,’ one of Kylie’s envious followers commented while the cosmetic mogul’s half-sister Khloe Kardashian weighed in: ‘Hahahahaha her on the phone in the last photo.’

The comments are much more complementary to Kylie’s recent post of Stormi, which received criticism for the youngster wearing large gold hoop earrings. 

Kylie, 22, was mum-shamed for allowing her young child to wear such bold jewellery. 

However, the mum-of-one was defended by daytime talk show host Wendy Williams who said: ‘This is the problem with kids having kids. 

‘There are a lot of problems with kids having kids, but I don’t believe this right here is one of them. 

‘My opinion is, and I don’t know this for a fact, but Kylie probably put these earrings in her ears for a staged Instagram photo and then probably took them out.’ 

She then joked: ‘No mum is letting their kids sleep like that.’ 

It’s not the first time Kylie has come under fire over Stormi’s jewellery.

In December, the Kylie Cosmetics founder was slammed for sharing a video of Stormi wearing a delicate diamond ring on her finger. Many worried about health and safety issues and said the youngster could have easily swallowed the ring. 

But Kylie refused to listen to the critics and flaunted the ring shortly after but this time, wearing it herself.

The Sara Cox Show has been ‘axed’ on ITV with both Kate Garraway and Myles Stephenson and Roman and Martin Kemp’s new programmes set to replace it.

Radio DJ Sara’s 55-minute show, which aired Saturdays and Sundays at 8.30am, span for just one series from 2019 and gifted us four festival specials over the course of its tenure.

‘ITV is determined to nail down its weekend morning offering,’ an insider told The Sun. ‘Sara’s run has ended, so it has turned elsewhere to see if that’s where the answers lie.’

‘ITV passed me the morning TV baton for one series last year and it was brilliant to have live music, great guests and taking my dogs on set,’ Sara said addressing the news.

‘Now it’s time to pass the baton on. If Kate and the Kemps have half as much fun as I did, they’ll be very happy.’

ITV confirmed yesterday that Kate will present her own chat show – named Breakfast At Garraway’s – alongside her I’m A Celebrity campmate Myles Stephenson. The series will begin in April.

‘I am absolutely thrilled to be welcoming everyone to join me and my sidekick, Myles, every Saturday morning for Breakfast at Garraway’s,’ Kate enthused.

‘We will have everything you need for a great weekend.’

She continued: ‘I will have the best guests dropping by to tell us what they do to make their weekends great and live their best life. I can’t wait to get going!’

Meanwhile, father and son Martin and Roman Kemp have also bagged their own show, titled Martin & Roman’s Sunday Best!

The new Sunday morning edition will be filled with fun, celebrity chat, and live music performances, as well as games and challenges.

‘Working with my dad is something I love to do,’ Roman exclaimed. ‘We don’t live together anymore – I don’t get to see him as often as I used to, so I am so excited to be presenting our own chat show on a Sunday morning.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, Martin added: ‘What could be better than sitting on the sofa again with my son Roman! I can’t wait!’

Breakfast At Garraway’s and Martin & Roman’s Sunday Best! will both launch in April.

Alex Jones knew to take her time returning to work after the birth of her second son Kit last May – because after her first child, she realised she came back way too early.

The One Show star only took three months after giving birth to first son Teddy in January 2017 before heading back to business, but in a new interview she admits she had been ‘unrealistic’ in that hope.

Speaking to Good Housekeeping Magazine, she explained: ‘I’d never had a child before; I had no idea. And I had this fear it would interfere, that I’d have to compromise my work life.

‘I now realise that was ridiculous because in fact I think [taking a break] makes you better at work.

‘It makes you a little bit more resilient which is what you have to be in this industry. And in life!’

Alex returned to work on The One Show on 6 January, and admitted even then in a sweet snap with her boys she was going to struggle being away from them.

She wrote: ‘Back to work today. So many different feelings. Anxious about leaving the boys, excited to be back on the show.

‘As soon as I put lipstick on this morning, little Ted looked at me with his huge brown eyes and asked “where are you going mummy?”

‘It nearly killed me, but it’s time to go back and I’m looking forward to going back to a job I love, but my goodness, I’ll miss these two. So here we go…the juggle begins.’

She was put back into action quickly – and in the past few weeks has interviewed stars including Al Pacino.

The Love Is Blind finale has dropped, finally revealing which couples have tied the knot and who has been jilted at the altar.

But while fans sit back to watch weddings of our favourite couples (and all the drama that goes down with them), we’ve been left curious as to what happened to Lauren Chamblin, aka LC, after she was snubbed by Matt Barnett for Amber Pike.

The 26-year-old found herself in an awkward love triangle throughout the series, forcing Barnett to pick between her and Amber.

And after going off with the former military girl, LC seemingly remained single as she disappeared from the series.

Catching up with the star’s social media, it appears the account executive is still living her best life – despite not yet finding love.

Sharing a picture of herself posing alongside the cast of the dating show, she wrote: ‘THANK YOU SO SO MUCH to all my friends that came to the LIB premiere party and to EVERYONE that has reached out me with the kindest words.

‘Doing a show like this was hard and it’s really scary to be yourself and be so vulnerable in such a public way like this.’

LC added: ‘I am in awe of my fellow cast members and can’t wait to watch the rest of their journeys. Couldn’t have asked for a better #PodSquad @netflix @kineticcontent.’

The reality star’s feed shows LC surrounded by her friends and family before the series launch.

However, there’s no sign of Mr Right just yet, but we’re sure he’s just around the corner.

If you haven’t managed to feast your eyes and ears on those wedding bells just yet, then look away now as there are all the spoilers below.

Damian Powers and Giannina Gibelli appeared to be all loved up in the final installment of the show, yet, when asked if he wanted to spend his life with Gigi, Damian replied: ‘I do not’.

Matthew Barnett and Amber Pike ended up saying their vows and became our very first Love Is Blind married couple.

But we couldn’t say the same for Kelly Barnes and Kenny Chase – who called off their wedding while at the alter.

Jessica Batten and Mark Cuevas followed close behind with Jess admitting she couldn’t possibly marry her man, while Cameron Hamilton and Lauren Speed managed to say ‘I do’ becoming the second couple to tie the knot.

Platinum Games has announced the third game in their promised set of four, although they haven’t been very specific about what it is.

Yesterday’s reveal of Project G.G. by Platinum Games was easily the most exciting new game announcement this year, as it became number two in the Platinum 4.

Number one was The Wonderful 101: Remastered but the reveal of number three is not so much an announcement as a statement of intent.

Nothing’s even given a codename and most of the discussion on Platinum’s website is over the fact that they’ve established a new studio in Tokyo.

In a sense the announcement is the new studio, rather than a specific game, as president and CEO Kenichi Sato talks about setting up in a new city and being able to self-publish thanks to a cash investment from Chinese conglomerate Tencent.

Studio head Atsushi Inaba is the most explicit about the new studios plans, saying that, ‘So far, the name Platinum Games has been nearly synonymous with single-player action games. But going forward, we’re looking to expand into new genres and styles of play.’

‘One of these new challenges for us is console live ops game development. These aren’t games we’d work on until they were done, and that’s all – rather, we’d continue working on them to provide new content long after release. We want to explore this ongoing development pattern in the home console space’, he adds.

Games as a service titles are much rarer in Japan than they are in the West, so it’s difficult to imagine what the new game may be, although given Platinum’s background Capcom’s Monster Hunter: World is probably one influence.

‘Our new Tokyo office will play a major role as we expand into live ops game development’, says Inaba. ‘The starting core members of our future live ops team who’ll be working there are already a part of PlatinumGames.’

As you can see, Platinum are implying multiple new ‘live ops’ games, although there’s no indication of when the first one will be out or announced.

It’s also unclear when the fourth and final game in the Platinum 4 will be revealed, or whether it’s a specific title or a more general announcement.

This week’s NXT wasn’t the home run we’ve come to expect every Wednesday night, but it’s safe to say it gave us a great sign of what’s to come on the Road to WrestleMania.

In the evening’s main event, Charlotte Flair returned for her first match on the black and gold show since 2015 as she clashed with Bianca Belair for the very first time.

The pair have had their issues as the EST of NXT feels overlooked by the Queen as she guns for Rhea Ripley and the brand’s Women’s championship – and fans were understandably buzzing for this matchup.

While it’s fair to say the main event didn’t quite live up to expectations, the duo still provided some great action as Bianca held her own against the decorated champion.

While it wasn’t a classic, both superstars did the best they could with the 12 minutes they got – while the commercial breaks never help – and they still need some time to get used to working together.

It was still a lot of fun with Bianca showing flashes of brilliance in between Flair’s dominance, although it was disappointing to see her lose to Charlotte when she could have even gained a lot from an outta nowhere win.

The result was a shame, with Charlotte taking out Belair as Rhea Ripley stormed the ring to bring the show to a close.

It’s unclear to see where WWE goes from here, whether Bianca will clash with Flair or Ripley at TakeOver maybe, to earn her way into the NXT Women’s Title match at WrestleMania the following night.

If nothing else it will be very interesting to see what happens next as we continue the build to Tampa.

In big news, a very cryptic video aired showing flashing images teasing an apocalypse, complete with a clock.

While the NXT team will likely play this out over the coming weeks, there are already rumours that this could be hyping the impending arrival of Killer Kross, who recently signed with WWE as one of the hottest free agents in the world.

It’s a great way to introduce him rather than the typical ‘sit in the crowd at TakeOver and smile for the camera’, and shows an instant commitment to his character.

Elsewhere, Finn Balor cut a promo as he insisted he has been at his peak for two decades, and wonders what’s next for the prince.

As if on cue, Imperium – Fabian Aichner and Marcel Barthel – arrived and said one thing he hasn’t done is winning the NXT UK Championship, which sparked a brawl between the three as the duo stepped up in WALTER’s place.

Give Balor and WALTER some time at NXT UK TakeOver Dublin in April, and we could have an absolute classic on our hands.

Wednesday night also saw Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano’s longrunning saga continue, as the latter attacked his former tag partner after a bout with Austin Theory, beating him down and mocking him with slow claps.

This was everything it needed to be as we move towards the pair finally blowing off their feud in Tampa.

James Newman has been confirmed as the United Kingdom’s 2020 entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.

The big news was announced this morning on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 4, as well as the official Eurovision Twitter account.

Following teasers from the BBC and hints dropped on Twitter, Eurovision sleuths were convinced that either Love Me Again singer John Newman or his big brother James would be representing the UK in Rotterdam this year.

And as it turns out, it’s the latter.

Newman will be hoping to win – or at least get onto the right hand side of the leaderboard – with his song My Last Breath.

James is a Grammy nominated songwriter, who has penned the UK number ones Blame, performed by Calvin Harris and John Newman, and Rudimental’s Waiting All Night.

He also wrote Lay It All On Me by Rudimental ft Ed Sheeran, Little Mix’s Love Me Like You and All I Am for Jess Glynne, while James has also penned tracks for Jessie Ware, Kesha, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson.

The rumour mill went into overdrive last night after it emerged that a song called My Last Breath had been registered by Newman, with songwriters including One Direction and Little Mix collaborator Ed Drewett – which turned out to be the entry.

The UK’s Eurovision entry is usually chosen through a public vote on the live show Eurovision: You Decide, which was last year hosted by Mel Giedroyc.

However, this year, the entry was chosen by the BBC and BMG – and James is one of the artists signed to BMG.

Look at that, all the pieces falling into place…

He will be hoping to improve on the UK’s performance last year, after Michael Rice came dead last in Tel Aviv.

The All Together Now winner failed to impress with his ballad Bigger Than Us, which received just 16 points in the grand final.

However, a mix-up with the vote counting meant that even this was inflated, and after corrections, Bigger Than Us achieved just 11 points.

Michael blamed the result on Brexit, telling The Sun after the contest: ‘I always knew I was going to come in this position because of Brexit. Do you know what? If it was Gary Barlow or Elton John, they still probably would have come last too.’

The UK has come last at Eurovision four times since 2003 – Michael in 2019, Josh Dubovie with That Sounds Good To Me in 2008, Andy Abraham with Even If in 2008 and Jemini’s infamous performance of Cry Baby in 2003.

Blue has given the UK’s best standing in the past decade, coming in 11th place in 2011 with I Can.

The last time the UK won was in 1997, when Katrina and The Waves came out on top with Love Shine A Light.

The Eurovision Song Contest this year will be held in Rotterdam, after Duncan Laurence won in Israel for The Netherlands with his ballad Arcade.

James will go straight through to the final as one of the Big Five, alongside France, Italy, Spain and Germany.

The semi-finals will take place on 12 and 14 May, with the grand final taking place on 16 May.

Macaulay Culkin had the best reaction the news that he’s been cast in the tenth season of American Horror Story.

It was announced yesterday that the Home Alone icon would be a new addition to the cast of season 10 of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series alongside returning stars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters and Kathy Bates.

The news caused some waves online, which caused Macaulay’s name to start trending on Twitter in reaction to his new job.

This elicited a typically hilarious response from the 39-year-old (yes, Macaulay Culkin is 39 years of age).

‘I just woke up and saw I was trending,’ he wrote. ‘Can someone explain what’s going on? Did I die again??’

Happily enough for the actor, the renewed interest in him was all down to him joining the cast of one of the world’s most popular shows…not another death hoax.

The next season of AHS follows on from last year’s slasher-inspired instalment, 1984, which starred Emma Roberts and Glee’s Matthew Morrison.

Macaulay is the sole new name on the main-cast list for the horror-drama’s next run, although he’ll be joining forces with franchise stalwarts Lily Rabe, Leslie Grossman, and Finn Witrock.

Sadly, however, creator and writer Murphy’s casting announcement – which saw the names of the cast play out over the rolling tides of the sea – did not include a launch date or a subtitle for the season’s theme, which changes each year.

Season 10 will also see the long-awaited return of Paulson, who recently confirmed her full-time return to the show alongside Peters.

This will be the first time the duo has appeared in the anthology since season eight, Apocolypse.

And the good news doesn’t end there for AHS fans – home network FX has also renewed their flagship for a further three seasons.

American Horror Story season 10 will air this year.

Game Of Thrones star Gemma Whelan has revealed that her on-screen kiss with Ellaria Sand was improvised.

The 38-year-old actress, who played Yara Greyjoy in HBO fantasy series, made out with the character in season seven, just before her ship was ambushed by Euron Greyjoy’s portion of the Iron Fleet.

It turns out that producers hadn’t actually written in the couple’s romantic snog, but the actresses had felt that locking lips ‘seemed right’ given the charged sexual tension between them.

‘It wasn’t directed that we would kiss,’ Gemma told Gay Star News. ‘It just seemed like something we should do.

‘We led it, very much so. It was meant to be a suggestion [of flirting] and then it became more sexual than we expected because it seemed right.’

Though straight and married to a man, Gemma has expressed her happiness in playing sexually fluid characters on the small screen, like Yara.

She added: ‘Every single thing I do, there’s a lesbian touch to it. Long may I continue to be typecast, if that’s the way it goes.’

Game Of Thrones came to an end after eight seasons last year, and two months after airing, Gemma admitted she’d not yet watched the finale.

‘I haven’t watched the end yet, no,’ the 38-year-old admitted to Tim Lovejoy on Sunday Brunch.

‘I do know what happens. I came home and my husband was watching it and I saw the final bit but I haven’t seen most of the series yet, because we didn’t have internet in our house.’

Game Of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is not dead, everyone! So we can all calm down now.

The 49-year-old was left disgusted after seeing reports of his faux death circulate the web.

However, it turns out the father-of-two is doing just fine, as he hit back at the ‘fake news’ with one heck of a sassy video.

Taking to Instagram, the actor shared a short clip of himself reassuring fans that nothing has happened to him – and thank god for that!

‘Hey, so, fake news,’ he smirked down the lens: ‘We hear about it all the time. In Denmark apparently there’s a story that has been floating around various websites.

‘It looked like a news story and the news was that I had died – but you click on the story and then you go to someplace where you can buy some s**t.’

He sighed: ‘I’m fine, but what the!? I mean, come on. Imagine if my daughters or wife or family had seen that headline?

‘I mean I get that you want to sell your s**t, but that’s just… So to you who did this, I know you don’t care but f**k you.’

In the caption, Nikolaj added: ‘I have been used in ads against my will before but this is insane. To make a fake news story about my death is beyond disgusting.

‘And although it’s great that the various websites that carried the story have taken it down they still ran it because it was paid for. Surely there must be some control into what you put up before you put it up.’

Closing off his spiel, the Jaime Lannister star continued: ‘Anyway. I am fine. Have a great weekend.’

Fans were quick to comment and celebrated the news, with some bringing up a string of Game Of Thrones references: ‘Jaime Lannister lives.’

‘Well, technically You died with your sister…’ one joked while another added: ‘The king of being alive!’

Someone else said: ‘Bro we didn’t believe that. You died when you and Cerci were crushed in King’s Landing. Jk, glad your well sir.’

Others were just left shocked that someone would make such claims: ‘Oh gosh that’s awful! Sorry to hear about this.’

X Factor star Emma Chawner has spoken of her pride at losing 13 stone in weight after being branded a ‘flump’ by Simon Cowell in her audition.

Back in 2007, Emma took a shot at stardom and applied for the talent competition, performing My Heart Will Go On in a gown made by her dad.

She faced horrific backlash after she was fatshamed in her audition – with Simon Cowell labelling the 17-year-old a ‘flump’, mocking her dress, causing her mum and dad to storm into the audition to have a go at them when they said no.

Afterwards, she was targeted by trolls, who called her family ‘scroungers’ for claiming £290,000 in benefits between them over the years.

But appearing on Lorraine, the 29-year-old shocked the host, who said she’d ‘got her spark back’ after previously meeting her when she was first trying to lose weight.

Emma beamed that she had turned her life around, explaining she was now working as a professional childminder, which helped her walk up to six miles a day to keep her healthy.

She’d also turned around her diet and lifestyle as she began to focus on feeling better in herself – after stress of her parents divorcing and her beloved dog dying providing the final catalyst she needed.

‘I’ve done it all myself this time, noone’s pushed me to do it,’ she said. ‘I weren’t healthy, I was always out of breath, my asthma got worse, and I ended up diabetic as well.’

‘I’ve still got a bit to go. I want to get down to 12 stone at least,’ Emma admitted, as Lorraine praised how far she’d come since they last saw each other.

Remembering her time on the X Factor, Lorraine slammed Simon’s behaviour and said: ‘I don’t think what happened to you would’ve happened again today.’

Lorraine airs daily at 9am on ITV.

Myles Stephenson has revealed the true extent of his horrific injuries following a snowboarding accident last week as he continues to recover in hospital.

The I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star was seriously injured while snowboarding at a ski resort in Andorra earlier in February and was rushed to hospital where he was placed in intensive care.

Returning to social media for the first time since the accident, Myles told followers: ‘I was involved in a snowboarding accident about a week ago which resulted in me rupturing my spleen breaking, broken ribs and having internal bleeding. This resulted in blood in my lungs.’ 

Panning to the wires and tubes hanging beside his hospital bed, Myles continued: ‘That’s meds going straight to my jugular artery. That noise is that they operated and put an incision through my rib cage just above my lungs made a puncture and just over three days or two days.’ 

Myles, 28, went on to reveal how doctors drained 950ml of blood’ that was ‘sitting around [his] lungs, but insists: ‘We’re good.’ 

Expressing his gratitude to still be alive, Myles said positively: ‘This is a quick message to say thank you to everyone messaging. I’ve been told everyone’s been asking about me. 

‘Just live life because I came too close to death. Thank god for listening to my mum because if I didn’t listen to her, and go into the hospital. Who knows what would have happened.’ 

Mums really do know best. 

He added: ‘The moral of the story is always listen to people who know more than you do.’ 

It comes after the Rak-Su singer recently thanked the medical team giving him round-the-clock care. 

The X Factor star said:  ‘I have seen progression in good health and thank god I am doing okay. 

‘Thank you to the nurses, doctors and especially my family for treating me like a prince! I love you all.’

It’s certainly a disappointing way for Myles to start the new year as he has just returned from the I’m a Celeb jungle after spending weeks living on rations.
