After a harrowing cliffhanger for fans of BBC 4 this weekend, a spokesperson for Auntie has confirmed that the broadcasting corporation might not be axeing their much-loved arts and entertainment channel.
Following recent government cuts to their budget – and a subsequent need to save up to £50 million – the powers that Beeb have apparently been toying with the idea of dropping certain channels considered to be excess baggage in order to fund popular dramas such as Poldark and Sherlock and remain in competition against fellow broadcasting contenders such as Netflix.
But Director-General Lord Hall has now indicated that the funds needed to stay afloat will be sourced ‘elsewhere’.
