Netflix wants to start streaming movies on long-haul flights

Netflix can be watched on phones, laptops, computers, tablets and TVs but now they have higher hopes for their streaming service.

Apparently, the American company want to provide in-flight entertainment on long-hauls flights.

But that doesn’t mean you’ll soon be able to access Netflix offline – their chief product officer Neil Hunt made that very clear – but they’re hoping when Wi-Fi technology becomes available on airplanes they can expand their market.

‘We have no plans for an offline mode,’ Hunt told Digital Spy. ‘I think it’s far more important to solve the problem of how do you distribute content on an airplane.’

‘We are seeing the next-generation of Wi-Fi in planes, so that’s a direction,’ he explained. ‘The other direction is that we can fit the whole of Netflix into a box that’s this size [about 1 square foot], that can fit on a plane, so why not pursue that?
