For 13 years, the Baftas have awarded one statue to an up and coming actor who has made a breakthrough in film or TV in the past year, from Kristen Stewart and John Boyega to Tom Holland.
As the only public vote for the annual awards show, it’s a good indicator of where public opinion lies for the film industry although in recent years the winner has been clear since the early days thanks to strong fandoms backing the actor (see, Twilight, Star Wars, and Marvel).
