The current Radio 2 DJ and The One Show host inspired schoolkids across the nation to get up at 7am to watch The Big Breakfast, made every other Saturday night show look instantly old hat with Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush and helped Radio 1 banish its Smashy and Nicey reputation with a breakfast show which at one point pulled in a record 7.5 million listeners.
