Film fans have got it spectacularly wrong by voting Indiana Jones as the Greatest Movie Character of All Time.
Over 10,000 votes were cast in the poll by Empire Magazine. Harrison Ford’s whip-cracking archaeologist came out on top, beating British spy James Bond into second place.
As our title suggests, we’ve got our number one firmly sorted out. Alas, Ferris doesn’t even make the top 10 of the Empire list which also includes Harrison Ford again as Han Solo.
Look, Indiana Jones is a decent enough shout and obviously it could have been a lot worse, but really? Indiana?
The plethora of sci-fi and fantasy characters in the list isn’t surprising. Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley is the only woman in the top 10, which finds room for both Batman and the Joker.
It doesn’t feel right to include characters who are more famous as comic book characters or literary heroes. Our man Ferris is of course an original.
